6ish. Kids are little. Handouts...3 per kid, I guess. Mix of 2 good chocolate to 1 cheap in our handout pile.
We started at around 6:15 and were the first ones out. I just set bowls of candy outside and let kids take whatever they take. Around 9pm some douchenozzle apparently dumped all the candy from both bowls into one bowl and just took off with the bowl of candy. It was a shitty, old bowl so no big deal, but still, that kid is a punk.
Lynch them! No such issues at my house. I did get several people ring my doorbell despite having to step around the candy bowl while we were out. I figured it was just little kids going through the motions without realizing what to do with a candy bowl sitting there. No harm no foul.
Tons of candy given out on my hood last night, lots of full-sized bars. No one was giving out kids, though.
I thought I'd be the Cool House and give out some* full size bars.... then these mother****ers down the street are giving out King Size candy. *Mostly fun size but had 30 full size bars
I feel in general trick or treating has been on a decline. Seems less kids go out and less people are handing out. Maybe it depends on the neighborhood. It makes be sad because it's kind of the last of the old fashioned American traditions and neighbor to neighbor interactive events we have left. Society has changed, people don't trust or would rather just not deal with others if they don't have to. I get excited about Halloween time and I like answering the door, talking with the kids about their costumes - I prefer to hold out the bowl and let them grab what they want, I never had a kid overgrab or take advantage.
It's definitely the neighborhood. When we first had kids and took them t or t'ing for the first time, we thought it would be a good idea to skip our neighborhood and take them to the 'rich' part of our neighborhood. When we knocked on doors, it was like the people had no idea it was even Halloween. So we drove back to our neighborhood and the streets were FILLED with kids and parents. From then on, we stuck to our own neighborhood. I think it depends on what aged kids are in each neighborhood. The 'rich' part mostly had empty nesters with kids already grown and out of the house. Hence the crappy trick or treating. We moved a couple of years ago to a neighborhood with lots of parents with younger kids, so it's a gold mine. We usually leave a bowl on our door while we are out. We have about 25 (yes, 25) inflatables in the yard, so we get a ton of kids. My cul-de-sac goes all out. Only 5 houses but we always try to outdo each other. My neighbor has about 6 different animatronics he puts up Halloween afternoon and takes down the same night. It's bad ass. He added a bunch of lights and a smoke machine this year. I've got to up my game next year. Halloween is awesome.
**UPDATE** The bowl has been recovered. I guess it just got knocked over and rolled away or something. Still, I can't seem to shake the little bit of anger I have for the non-existent douchenozzle I constructed when I wrote this story. He may not exist, but I'm certain he's an *******.
Awesome. This reminds me of our cul-de-sac as a kid. I'll ask my mom if she still has pics, they went all-out.
