Am I off here on how a rainout would change things? Monday Rainout Tuesday LMJ/Syndergaard Wednesday Verlander/Nola Thursday Framber/Wheeler Friday Travel Day Saturday LMJ/Syndergaard Sunday Javier/Suarez (Verlander on short rest if needed for couple innings)
So are we playing this **** or the ****ing weather bailing out yet another ****ing East coast team? ****ing ****
With Framber's headcase issues, I feel like there's a higher chance of him getting rattled and having the wheels fall off on the road. I would try to keep him for Game 6. I would do LMJ/Javier/Verlander/Framber/LMJ (with Javier available). Javier has earned his start and has performed better than Verlander anyway.
This is BS if they not only postpone Game 3, but maintain the travel day if it goes to a Game 6. That completely bails out the Phillies. It lets them avoid a Syndergaard start and gives their bullpen an extra day to rest.
The Astros should still win this series simply based on how both teams and bullpens were at full rest.
Tired of hearing about that series. The Astros lost a game where they started Randy Johnson on full rest vs. Sterling Hitchcock.
The Astros can still win this. But it increases the Phillies' odds considerably. Syndergaard not starting would have huge implications. Not only is he their weakest pitcher in the rotation, but he was only expected to go 3 innings even if he did well. Now they'd get to avoid using their bullpen heavily in Game 3 which will have ripple effects on Games 4 and 5.
I'm just not as concerned. And it does push their bullpen scenario back to a game 6 or 7 (if needed). On the one hand, I understand wanting to really tire them out (even though these guys have been used to going back to back games all year, and at this time of the season... 3 days in a row not unheard of). On the other hand, the Astros also benefit in fully re-setting Abreu/Montero/Pressly and they won't have to throw any starting pitchers as part of the bullpen. Plus its not like the Astros are some great bad weather team. The weather conditions were pretty bad last year's game 3 in Atlanta and the Astros hitters couldn't do anything.
What would happen if it rained hard, like Forrest Gump in Vietnam hard, for 10 days? Would they post pone it for 10 days?
