I get that a lot of folks are frustrated. Rockets fans are not used to losing. Not like this. So whats up? Lets cover the most common complaints. 1) Silas is a bad coach 2) Stone didnt draft the right players 3) Playing dead weight players (Nix, Gary, Garuba, ect...) Well, lets go about this a different way. If the Rockets have good players, why aren't they winning? Maybe the problem isn't any of the above 3 things. Perhaps the problem is expecting the current Rockets to be good in the first place? News flash. This team isn't good. At this stage, they shouldn't be expected to be good. News flash. These players are not good (not yet) and should not be expected to be good, yet. So, those of you so inclined, go ahead and start 20 more fire Silas threads. Go ahead and try to place the blame that we are not as good as we should be on Stone, drafts, lack of trades, the Weather, whatever... If your expecting a result that is pre-mature and unrealistic, then all your reasoning as to why your expectations are not being met will be flawed and inaccurate. Its just pissing in the wind...
Garuba has shown he’s not dead weight. He can contribute. He’s much more effective than Nix. our problem right now is we have only one veteran and a bunch of raw talent without an identity. They play scared when things get tough and that exacerbates the issues. They’ve hung into these games though despite playing like chickens with their heads cut off — I think that’s somewhat promising.
1) It's early as hell. The worst teams by SRS are the Lakers, Pistons, Clippers, Kings, Nuggets and us. That tells you very little. 2) Both our offense (27th in ORTG) and defense (26th in DRTG) are bad but both will surely improve as the year goes on. The defense will improve when we get Fernando back, play Eason more, and honestly, make more shots on offense. The young guys will only improve as the year goes on. The offense's biggest weakness right now is passing/ball-movement (29th in Ast/100 poss), which leads to bad shot quality (28th in TS%). We're relying too much on KPJ/Jalen, and neither one is exactly the pinnacle of efficiency or ball-movement right now. And Jabari's been ice cold but more shots should start dropping as he settles down. So yeah. We're not gonna be good, but we can only get better. In the short term, I hope Silas stops playing Nix and plays Eason more.
No one expects us to win a lot of games. People are just frustrated with the way we lose the games. If we lost with everyone getting involved with any semblance of a coach or a plan great. But instead we watch the KPJ isolation show for 4 quarters and no one wants to watch that and it's not a recipe for winning in the long run either. what I hate is Jabari realizing he won't ever get the ball and he just forces up shots saying it's my turn. We play absolutely nothing like a team. Just a bunch of guys taking turns trying to get theirs.
most of this board wants to be the worst in the league yet again as part of the annual tank job, yet stay complaining y’all tell me how many league-worst teams look good or play team ball enjoy your tank…Silas is delivering the L’s y’all desperately crave
THIS IS SPOT ON....jabari seems to be putting up shots with the "its either now or never" since he hardly gets the ball...and the kpj iso...dudes court vision is abysmal..he's a SG not a PG....misses open ppl ALL THE TIME its frustrating....the style of play is extremely selfish...no sense of team offense or defense, theyre playing 21 out there
I will not stand for garuba slander. He actually performed admirable. The dead weights on the team are nix, Gary bird (in terms of actual development), Eric Gordon (he takes up mins). Silas coaching and rotations are quite awful. If u watch games, theres not even any offense system being ran, it's literally silas making kpj do his best harden impersonation
We young stars figuring it out and a crappy coach and supporting cast. I said after we lost Harden, we were going to be bad for AT LEAST 5 seasons, but somehow people thought we were going to win games this season.
Why on earth does anyone on this forum want us to win? Especially this year when we need Tank Commanders?! Silas, Stone and the team are performing beautifully.
We don't have enough vets, and we aren't playing enough vets. Simple as that A lot of the people crying for Gordon, Tate, Mathews, and Boban to be traded or waived, or benched for eternity are often the same people who are hilariously flabbergasted by us being a bad team. They showed the image last night during the broadcast, the percentage of teams' points scored by players under 23 and Houston was by far leading the league with 80%. If we want to win games, we would need to bring in vets, which would reduce the minutes and roles of many of our young players. So what do you guys actually want? And are you prepared to adjust your expectations? Or are you praying for vets? Seems like the common goal for half the forum is to cry and make autistic noises all day regardless.
we need to stop acting like being absolute trash is somehow a commendable accomplishment. Any bum off the streets could do that The dick riding is getting crazy
This is the type of thread when you just take whatever is given and don't look deeper. It is not the wins and losses, it is the LACK of a plan for development, the lack of a system that helps players develop and gain in confidence that is the problem. Silas is not developing, he is coddling, and it is actually HINDERING development. So, sure be happy if you want, but if you want to look deeper, this type of coaching is PROLONGING development not helping it. DD
It’s not about wins and losses. It’s bout how shitty our top prospects look compared to others. For example why is Ben Mathurin playing better than Jalen Green? Green and Jabari should at least be puttin up decent counting stats and not shooting less than 40% from the field.
The problem is not losing. That is expected with this team. For me, the problem is that the supposedly best players on the team are putting up poor individual stats, especially with shooting. Green has shot decently only in 3 out of 7 games to start with and still lacks consistency from 3pt line. For someone who is just not a good 3pt shooter attempting so many 3s can get frustrating to watch.
The folks that set silly expectations like play in and easily over 25 wins put this on themselves. .500 team. Now they're all crying about why the rockets aren't a good team. Ummmm because they're not supposed to be when your team is littered with rooks and sophomores. When you set nonsense expectations, this is what you get. Having 0 understanding of what a full rebuild entails and acting like you can just skip and fast forward the growing pains that come along with it. yall were warned a long time how long this will probably take. You can thank the worst owner in the league for where the Rockets are at and this entire process The funny thing is a whole lot of yall wanted this full rebuild. Now apparently appalled by what you're seeing, in comes the wishy washy. At least Pick a side and stick to it ffs
