So KPJ has the ball more than 5 x as long as Alpi each game. MORE THAN FIVE TIMES AS LONG!

Even freaking Nix has the ball almost twice as long as Alpi each game.

I just did a quick back of the envelope calculation of another metric, based on this:

    Points per minute of possession:

    KPJ: 2.84
    Jalen: 4.93
    Alpi: 10.93

    GIVE ALPI THE DAMN BALL.

Our coach says Alpi doesn't fit in his "offense" so he demands that Sengun adjusts.

It should be mandated within the organization that our young guys need to learn how to play without dribbling. We do not have a prime James Harden on this team. He is 1 in a billion. Move the ball from side to side, and accept nothing less.

This thread is less about Sengun and more about systemic issues coming from Silas/Lucas. WHATEVER C is in there, we can't play this way. KPJ/JG/Jabari all have the tools to be savants OFF THE BALL.

Let them be who they are... Let Sengun be who he is.

ATW, I look forward to you updating this thread after every single game. It is the primary flaw of the Houston Rockets. The stats here do not lie. They are absolutely insane.

To even the time of possession out a bit, no doubt Silas should allow Sengun to bring the ball up the court.

In our first 7 games, amongst players who have played 4+ games

Gordon, Garuba, and Sengun are the only 3 players scoring efficiently

    Sengun is currently averaging 22 & 14 per 36

Jalen and Jabari in particular are sucking bowls of horsecock, at the moment. Jalen has the lowest +- on the team, both Jalen and Smith are bottom 5 in +- amongst all players in the league who've played 3 or more games (KD is also on that list, hilariously).

No, but they should at least sometimes dump the ball to the big man early in the shot clock and let him create inside out (or even to someone else, move the ball around). This has been happening a lot less even than last year. KPJ practically never does it. If he passes to Alpi at all for a scoring opportunity, then only out of desperation at the end of the shot clock, like before halftime.

We all know this is the issue with the team. Imagine if we got victor next. With SIlas KPJ would still lead this team in touches lol

Speaking of doubts, there is no doubt that benching Alperen Sengun and bringing in a rim-running Kelvin Cato, who allows KPJ and JG to dribble more, is the answer.

solid analysis but i beg to disagree...sengun is a better PG than harden...ball should be in senguns hands most of the time but dont worry hell make quick pass as necessary and thus allow more balanced distribution of the ball...hes willing to share the ball more than harden and will not chuck a 3 pointer just for the sake of it when hes 3-18 for the night....

I don't think you can calculate the stats like this. One of these is a PG that is bringing the ball up the floor. The other is a C that is usually looking for a quick pass or for a drive to the basket. The points per touch metric is a lot more interesting here. He is second on the team right behind Jalen Green.

As others have already said: I think the biggest problem is the system or lack there of. We rely way too much on isos and high screens for the ball handler. When Sengun is in the game, let him initiate from the high post and give our shooters off the ball screens and let guys like Jalen, Christopher and Martin slash to the basket. Also good things happen when Sengun posts up - and when he is left alone at the 3pt line, he is capable of hitting that shot this year.

It is ok to use more of the shot clock to try to get a better shot. We take way too many difficult shots early in the shot clock.
