Or the law of averages finally gives J.V. a break and we go back to Houston up 3-2.

Can't understate how big Frambers performance was today.

Still don't know WTF happened last season, but he was money in 20 and has been this postseason also.

I would keep a short leash on Verlander in game 5. Hate to say it, but he hasn't shown in the World Series he deserves benefit of the doubt. If Dusty sees him struggling, yank him, don't let Verlander lose himself.

    Houston bullpen this post season

    Runners On 2-38
    RISP 0-19
    RISP w/ 2 outs 0-15

One of those 2 hits was the Pena throw to an Altuve-less second base, so not really a hit.

I would normally call that nails, but that would be giving too much credit to nails.

And as for Penas screw up in the 8th, that was on Altuve. Unless you are making a play on the ball you ALWAYS cover a base even if you don't think the play will go there.

Pena maybe should have tried for first but doubt he gets him there, 2nd was the play. A complete f**k up by Altuve.

Yes, but knowing it is supposed to be stressful doesn't make it any less stressful.

Agreed. On the slow mo it looked weird though, like Pena saw he wasn't looking and threw it anyway. Live I figured he flipped before he looked. Not sure what Tuve was thinking.

Stressful part about games is what I love the most.

people complaining about it being stressful, just wait until the game is over to see the results.

It is funny seeing the complaints though.

I strongly believe, that in Game 5 in Philadelphia, JV will be pitching angry and with a vengeance, determined to put the meltdown behind him. That said, I doubt Nola would have two clunkers in a row, so I'm not expecting another 5 run outburst.

I thought JV would pitch like that in every post-season game since 2019, but he hasn't. Game 1 was the game for him to actually do it but he **** the bed again. I keep waiting and he keeps dissappointing. Blind hope in my opinion.

Well, not sure what your cutoff date is, but Nola already has had two clunkers in a row, as San Diego got to him, too. Hopefully Astros can make it three in a row.

I liken Wheeler to that of Max Fried last year. We busted him up in game 2, was glad to get the series back home in game 6 and then he pitched the game of his life to win it all for Atlanta.

I don't think just barely getting it back to Houston is going to suffice this time around either. Wheeler could very well pull a Fried.

Win at least 2 in Philly. Then I think we finally put that playing at home in games 6/7 and blowing it to bed.

Glad we won. I couldn't stay awake to even the start of the game 2. I was worn out from watching game 1.

Nola's last two starts have been clunkers... 6 earned runs in 4.2 innings against San Diego and 5 earned runs in 4.1 innings against Houston. Wheeler's velocity is down and he's avoiding the 4-seamer (his bread and butter). With a significant drop off in their rotation after these two, Philadelphia will need to rely on slugfests to win games in the next 2-3 outings. Doable, but very difficult. And they are facing McCullers and Javier, two excellent pitchers with deep playoff experience.

Has the clock struck midnight for Cinderella?

Something I noted prior to the game that is going to be something to keep an eye on this series.

Wheeler in the second Padres game had some Velo dip in his second start.

We saw the same thing tonight. I think he is fighting a shoulder or elbow issue right now. Huge problem for the Phillies going forward.

Just need Lance and Javier to execute. Astros have a massive advantage in games 3-5.

Great observation. Maybe that’s why he was pushed back to Game 2 instead of 1
