It weaves a story of mentally unstable and willing to believe whatever he reads online, no matter what corner of the internet it's from.

This, my friend, is exactly how QAnon was spawned. It's exactly how far right nuts end up shooting up stores and schools after radicalization. Or attacking a political figure at home.

I've watched plenty of people go from being left wing to watching Fox News 24/7 and being semi-radicalized.

It's a crazy world. The internet and mental illness just act as accelerant.

@bobrek, a couple of questions, if I may (since you brought up your views):
    • Even though many of your views clearly differ from those of several pretty far left posters on here, I have never seen you argue with any of them. If you argue, it's "against the right". Any idea why that might be so?
    • Any examples of issues where you disagree strongly with your son's publicly stated views?
I'm just curious, no need to respond if you don't feel like it.

definitely…when somebody starts talking about pedo this and and pedo that to go along with white replacement, it’s only a matter of time

white replacement is included in almost every mass shooter manifesto starter pack

this is how crazy and unhinged people get…can’t even watch a simple superhero movie like Black Adam without thinking you’re getting persecuted and inventing conspiracies

If you’ve ever watched a QAnon video it always starts off basically running through a Bernie campaign greatest hits about how there’s corruption and the little man is getting screwed by billionaires. They absolutely are focused on trying to win over people who fit this profile. Why do you think Kyrie Irving and Kanye West have been suckered in too?? It’s not like they don’t fit the profile of someone who in normal times would be a social justice warrior. I don’t know if Kyrie has ever been diagnosed but I know Kanye has. This stuff preys on people with mental illness or dilution.

However where there typically is the most dangerous action taken is when online white supremacy community happens. And QAnon has huge gateway access to white supremacy groups. I think what the FBI will be combing through these next few days will be the groups he was communicating with online. Especially looking at his activity on private Facebook groups, and 8chan. Who was putting action driven language in his mind and putting in his mind Pelosi’s house as a target. What did he want to achieve and why yesterday?

Also… I’m not saying MTG was coordinating this attack, but it’s no coincidence that she was posting online the day before that something was going to happen that next day. It’s very likely that the QAnon groups online had some sort of theorizing about some big cabal showdown happening or whatever and this nutcase was thinking he would be one of thousands of “heroes” involved… when he ended up being the only one to take action. However I would be willing to bet there was some sort of “storm” event that the lead posters online were talking about for weeks to get MAGA people enthused about the mid terms.

Only to someone that is trying to find any way to paint the guy as 'other than right wing extremist'

Hemp jewelry maker living in Berkley, might point in that direction except when you throw in homelessness. Then it makes sense that is what he could do. And a place that would have a lot of homeless.

Nudist daughter might point to concervative as she's trying to rebel. Though plenty of people have different lifestyles than their parents.

Over all those things don't point to either political leaning.

Certainly not more than postings of directly right leaning ideas, slogans, cincspirscy theories, etc. Those would carry a ton more weight about any political philosophy the attacker believes.

they are desperately trying to ignore all his online postings clearly showing he’s a right wing lunatic, and instead want to focus on him protesting nude in 2013 or where he lived, as if a crazy alt-right person can’t be living anywhere in America

Threats against members of Congress are more ten times as high as just five years ago. In the 2 years since Trump supporters hunted Mike Pence, Nancy Pelosi and members of Congress hate groups have multiplied, and the Jew hate is multiplying. You have big name stars adding into the antisemitism like Kanye and Irving. In Florida, hate crimes against Jews accounted for 80% of the religiously motivated incidents in 2020, and antisemitic hate crimes have risen 300% since 2012. Threats to lawmakers and their families have increased sharply. The U.S. Capitol Police investigated almost 10,000 threats to members last year, more than twice the number from four years earlier.

The incitement by politicians towards other politicians or groups has become a dangerous and deadly game. It needs to stop. You have politicians making targets out of others. Remember when the N.R.A. Magazine posted a Target Practice headline with photos of Pelosi and Giffords? Then you have that energy executive running in Arizona who had that TV ad where he dressed as a sheriff and fired a gun at actors playing Biden and Pelosi. It's all gun toting incitement and normalization of it being justified that incites the crazies to act on their words. It happened to Whitmire after Trump yelled out to Liberate Michigan. Look what happened at the Capitol when Trump incited his radicals. It needs to stop! Research has found that domestic terrorists are emboldened when they believe that politicians encourage violence or that authorities will tolerate it from their side of the political spectrum. Extremism has multiplied, and hate groups have multiplied. Stop hating, stop inciting violence, and stop defending violence. It doesn't matter if the perpetrator or victim is left or right, white or black, Christian or atheist. Do not condone violence!

Really doesn't help that Pelosi isn't a sympathetic figure. It's really hard to feel sorry for her and her 9 figures of wealth she ammases during her 35 year career as a "public servant"

Hope her husband has a speedy recovery and I hope Pelosi realizes that derangement and hatred of people like her is just going to increase as time moves forward due to our economic trends of the past 60 years which she has been a contributor of.

this was the post of yours that i was responding to...
youre clearly insinuating something here. and youre clearly questioning the facts as we know them and how the police reported them.

you cant even get the basic facts right (there was one hammer, not two).

and for some bizarre reason you are trying to deny that he harbored right wing beliefs even though his social media posts have been in the news for all to see...
theres plenty of pot smoking hippies who are also right wingers and trumpers. i know a few.

It's very true. Just as we live in an era of gender fluidity, we also now have nutter fluidity.

Nutter fluidity and nudists on the same page. I don't know if I can handle that.

It has to do with how information is dispersed now vs 40 years ago. 40 years ago, your beliefs mirrored your surroundings and the people you were around. Today, with social media, isolated people can have extreme views that are total opposite of their surroundings be cause they can escape into a completely different ideological bubble.

The 4 wealthiest people in Congress (at least as of 2021 filings) are Republicans. Do you think they have to worry about crazed folks attacking them in their homes?

No surprise this has happened and it will happen more often with increasing frequency as the right continues to villainize their enemies as a danger that must be crushed at any cost.

This is just the beginning and I expect more politicians will be targeted with increasing frequency. The right wing politicians will not change and will continue to be complicit in division politics and cater to the lunies which is rapidly becoming mainstream.

It's very strange to see @AroundTheWorld, @basso, and others try to avoid looking at the attackers own words, writings, and postings in an effort to pretend or rationalize away the idea that what we know so far show he is a right wing lunatic.

Is it because they think if this attacker is right wing, all right wing folks are guilty? Is it that if this attacker is right wing, smaller government is no longer legitimate?

Is it because they've spent so long demonizing the other side, they are afraid this could remove standing of the party?

Is it because they are worried that this will give more credence to the idea that the decisive rhetoric from right wing demagogues actually does have dangerous consequences?

I don't know. But it is strange, and they seem to be trying very hard to ignore what the attacker has posted and deny him from the right wing politics.

I don't like Nancy Pelosi or her husband. That doesn't matter at all. No one should be breaking into people's homes and attacking them. Political violence is wrong. Unprovoked violence is wrong. I hope he spends a long time in prison.
