I don't think there is any possibility this is a red wave election the numbers are just not there and I don't know what him saying he is not gonna run again is going to change how do you groom a successor anyway, and wouldn't that successor still have the stank of Biden? Anybody running is going to be tied to Biden and I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, Biden is a unique candidate who can actually get moderate Republicans, that's his superpower at the moment. I don't see anybody who can do that if Republicans do actually win both houses, Democrats will not probably need a Biden because Republicans will just overreach.
I don’t think it will be a red wave as that the Republicans win all 5 contested Senate seats and 40 plus house seats. That is an outside possibility though. Any Democrat will be tied to Biden to some extent but Biden’s liabilities on the campaign trail are on display with so few Democrats wanting to appear with him. Facing an opposition Congress will be very taxing on Biden especially if they launch an impeachment. The Democrats will need someone who can go out and campaign vigorously, and hopefully not make so many gaffes. While yes Biden has done remarkably well passing legislation with McCarthy controlling the speakership that will likely be over.
