If the front office put him on the roster, that means there are specific scenarios they think he should be used. They’ll have discussed them with Dusty ahead of time, and I don’t think Dusty will just throw him out there randomly.

I love plucky underdogs with top 4 payrolls. The most ironic thing of this entire run is that the Astros should be the most loved underdog across the country - not a top 5 market, a 5’6” undrafted star, overachieving prospects all over the roster, etc. It is inevitable that a team as successful as the Astros will be hated by some, but that pervert Fiers enabled a complicit media to completely pervert the narrative.

Oh well, win and shut them all up.

Agree IF he is only used vs them in situations that otherwise it might be Seth

I would NEVER want Smith facing Harper instead of Abreu, Montero etc.....

I fear we will see just that though

Seth wouldn't even be an option in this series. you would never but the numbers smith has vs harper would shock you if you're saying never

Not nervous at all. Honestly, haven't been since after 2017. Yes, I'd like another (and another and another) to shut up the rest of the country and their nonsense. But there's just something about this team that is different. It's a feeling of inevitability. When they were down in the ALDS game 1, I never felt like they were going to lose. In game 3, no matter how long that game went, it just felt like it was going to happen. When they were losing in ACLS Game 4, never for a second thought we were going to lose that game.

I don't make predictions because they almost always go bad. I'm just confident this year more so than the previous years.

Maybe they will use Smith to just throw a couple heaters high and inside to mess with their heads?

I had to look it up: Will Smith career vs Philly lefty hitters:
    • Harper: 2 hits (both singles) in 14AB, 6 SOs
    • Schwarber: 1 for 3 (single), 2 SOs
    • Stott: 0 for 2, 1 SO
    • Brandon Marsh: 0 for 2, 2 SO
Against the Phillies as a whole: 0.164 BA, .236 SLG and only 1 HR given up in 64AB with 26 SOs. Might be a secret weapon.

All objective measures points to us winning convincingly but we are Houston sport fans, so the PTSD lingers.

    Astros in 3.

the phillies will quit and run home crying to their momma’s after that.

Edit: I am actually incredibly nervous and unsure what will happen.

Everything is on the line in game one, if we get the World Series version of JV and lose because of it tonight, we are done.

Not to put any more stress on you people but these are facts.

yeah it's such a proven fact that the team would still need to win 3 more times

I'm hoping that he's only used for 1 batter. I wouldn't want him coming at the beginning of a inning and be forced to pitch to 3 batters. But I also understand that he would need to get the 1 batter out. If that batter reaches, he'll need to keep pitching.

Also speaking if Will Smith, hopefully he's the new Joc Pederson as in back to back champion
