We gained 2 new starters... one is a teenager and one is 4 months removed from being a teenager. We lost a good player (Wood). Our lotto pick this year played one game in the preseason. Our first 10 games are about the hardest schedule in the league. It's a little early to decide anything, and the learning curve should be steep yet again this year. Give the group at least 15-20 games to at least learn how to play together against NBA competition. Playing good teams and losing is the best way to make your team look bad. It's like Mike Tyson said... everyone has a plan until they get hit in the face. It doesn't matter how good or bad the team has been coached at this early stage in their career. They're learning to play on the job.
I have actually been happy with their play overall. I thought they looked disjointed and low effort for much of the first three quarters last night, but they bounced back and made it competitive in the 4th (mostly due to a beastly effort from KPJ). But in most of the games I thought they looked very competitive. They definitely weren't laying down - they just got beat by better and more experienced teams. Most of the kids are looking like I'd like them to look. Jabari has been inconsistent but he's barely 19 and he still does a lot of things extremely well. I'm very optimistic about his future. KPJ has looked like a borderline all-star. Jalen has had some off nights, but there are nights he looks like the elite scorer we all expect him to be. Sengun has been inconsistent too, but he has had games where he looked like what we think he is. And of course Silas, being the evil mastermind he is, is keeping our secret weapon, Josh Christopher, mostly on the bench because he understands we have zero chance of landing Wembanyama if Josh Christopher plays significant minutes.
TANK YOU VERY MUCH COACH SILAS!!! WHEN IT'S TIME TO WIN, YOU'LL BE IN A GALAXY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THE ROCKETS BENCH!
The only way we're getting back on National broadcasts. I hate ESPN. I'd would like all of our games to be on TNT.
It only looks bad cuz the Rox are losing games. How many people said the on court product looks bad when the team was demolishing people in SL?
My hope is Jabari Smith grows another 2 inches by next season and beefs up like Giannis in 2 years so he can play as a proper center unless we get Wemby ofcourse.
Spare me the excuses….what we lost from last year, we had last year and Silas has a career 38-121 record. That’s beyond awful and ranks as one of the WORST in NBA HISTORY!!! Kudos to the Rockets for keeping him because he’s such a nice lovable guy, but let’s be honest in admitting that that’s the reason he’s here and not for his coaching acumen.
Wasn't his dad the head coach of the 7 win Bobcats, the worst record in NBA history. Stephen Silas was lead assistant on that team. Geez losing must be genetic.
