Gentle reminder that these major studios make sure the shills and fanbois are the first to put out their reviews, so take them with the biggest grains of salt.

(I was going to post this in the Black Adam thread before it came out, but I know the DC fans can be sensitive so I decided against it.)

One of the guys I trust, he has to be vague, super vague, but what I take from him is... Namor is a 9/10 or 10/10 character. And the movie is good not great.

Also saying it's SERIOUS not a joke-fest or something like Thor. But I think we saw that coming. Just been a while with Marvel kinda.

At 1st I was not feeling what you were putting down but yeah at some point somebody has to challenge her for the title especially since it was so central to the 1st movie.

I have to say they got Namor flying spot on, it could have looked real cheesy.

I'm fine joke shows but it DID feel like just about every project in a row was 10/10 on not taking itself seriously. I didn't like that Falcon Soldier show but at least the tone was different. MCU probably needs to do a better job of mixing up the vibes. It was like reaching into a bag of M&M's and getting 8 red ones in a row.

Exactly, I liked a lot of the stuff with Thor, but then they went all in on that tone.

GOG had that vibe but it was earned and it had some weight beneath the jokes.

This is the guy who is the creator of the #RecastTChalla movement. The Movie is probably really good, but there is probably no T'Challa or illusions to a future recasting of T'Challa in the movie which makes him disappointed. Also he really hated how they were commodifying the death of Chadwick. You are basically immortalizing the death of this dude for everyone to consume for a price. That feels wrong. I can understand the breath of emotions.

Most people will love this movie but the people who wanted a T'Challa recast will not.

I disagree with the whole 'BP's death makes a buck'. There multitudes of fans AND real-life people who make these movies that this will help bring some closure to Chadwick Boseman's life. It would have been massively jarring and, IMO, disrespectful to just ignore it. If done properly, it checks the boxes. I'm not seeing a lot of angst from the opening night reactions so I think they probably killed it in this regard.

Naw X. it's weird. You don't have to kill a fictional character in a movie because the actor died. It's a movie. I don't want to be insensitive when I say this: T'Challa didn't die, Chadwick died. Chadwick was a real person for goodness sake. I feel like im in the Twilight zone with people needing closure in BP marvel movie. Real people have funerals and documentary's told about their real life. Chadwick has been dead for a couple years now too. it's not like this joint was released hours after his death.

This movie could have taken place during the blip. that right there could have been the perfect reason why T'Challa wasn't in the movie. Or the movie shouldn't have been made at all. Marvel pushes back movies all the time.

Yall keep this same energy when Harrison Ford shows up as Thunderbolt Ross and not William Hurt.

Yee, blip him back in with a different actor and never mention it, like the Aunt in Fresh Prince.

BP and Thunderbolt Ross are two completely different cases. One is a huge hero who was played by an actor that everyone loved. The other was an old cranky white guy bit part.

it is def the same, IMO. Chadwick Boseman is not T'challa. Chadwick is an actor. I dont care how loved he was in the role, somebody else can play T'challa just like somebody else can play Thunderbolt Ross. Marvel proved that, shiii the entire industry proves that time and time again.

Hurt has played Thunderbolt Ross far longer than Chadwick played T'challa that's for sure; before the MCU was even a thing. This notion fictional characters should die because you loved the portrayal of that character has to be the weirdest thing I have ever heard, also has never been a thing ever.

nobody cares about War Machine…that’s a side character

dude is the cranberry sauce on the Thanksgiving table…the burnt burger nobody wants at the barbeque

it was easy to just recast him

So don't recast the characters you care about? Don't recast characters you WANT to see? You see how backwards that is? War Machine is getting his own Disney+ show btw.

I’m saying it is much easier to recast a side piece than the main thing, and the MCU had barely gotten underway when they did that…there is far more scrutiny and potential backlash now then back then since the fanbase is now much larger

Chadwick Boseman passing away just adds to it…it could be more of a personal decision by Feige, Coogler, and the rest of the cast since he was so beloved

everybody and their momma getting a Disney+ show

T'Challa is not the central character its Black Panther and Black Panther is still in the movie, you act like T"Challa was a central figure in this universe when he was not its the Black Panther character.

The fictional character that matters did not die, Black Panther did not die T'Challa did, the fact that people can't understand that is the amazing part.
