Remind me to never walk or drive down Folsom ST in San Francisco, I don't know why they haven't just banned guns yet. These criminals can't commit crimes if getting guns is against the law...

It’s hard to get guns legally if you are a criminal
But it’s really easy to get guns illegally if you are a criminal
Guess who’s suppose to stop criminals ?

    Gay Velma or Feminist Hulk?

Seriously thou, this makes perfect logical sense but then they won't have a foolish narrative that Dems will gobble up, they already went with being against guns so their followers will only accept more and more radical actions no matter how foolish they may be.

They can't turn back now, they have to double down on their stupidity and hope for the best. The only way out is for Republicans to start supporting foolish gun laws and criminal activity. Then Dems can jump on being pro gun and while their supporters will be confused at first eventually they will follow like good sheep and be in favor of the 2nd amendment and police funding. Only then will Dem ran states be much safer and better to live in.

There’s a dumb narrative that people in Texas have guns and people in Cali do not.

last I remember gangs in LA aren’t fighting and robbing people with nunchucks

there’s a ton of guns in California, legal and illegal
All those rappers didn’t die because they were stabbed

Probably a top 3 priority alongside unbanning Trump and eliminating democratic censorship. I'm all for it...

The tech boom really changed SF over the last 20 years.

There's many favorable things to the area, and a crash there is probably a needed wakeup call to fix **** that money can't paper over.

It's not the tech boom. It's leftist identity politics.

I really recommend reading this thread.

Lots of companies left or moved their employees to more business friendly states

    just look at Austin
All the companies are there and people knew this would happen
The pandemic , crime , taxes all played a factor

Yeah, it's too bad she was raised in SF to not move elsewhere. Property owners have effectively won in spite of failed pledges or measures over the past 20 years to add another million in housing capacity or development.

I feel for that writer as the vibrancy of SF is getting killed by monied interests who control party lines. I wasn't there during Trump though I can imagine them being mobilized for some cultural war or pushback that silences dissent or questioning. You see some of that behavior in here and this forum is not as liberal as the Bay believe it or not.

Anyhow, my comment is mostly in response to the video's question of how local businesses can survive or return to a state of normalcy without Big Tech suffocating everyone else. Its tax revenue and property rates are good for city coffers but the influence is disproportional to everyone else, and that "everyone else" is essential to a functioning city. I would not bother living there if I didn't make more than a Congressman and I'm always fascinated how service workers can get by there.

Without local biz or restaurants you lose a pulse that makes the city great. It's the hidden gems away from the tourist traps, and losing them makes folks less willing to care about things happening on the ground.

I think a black eye would add some hubris to the identity politics plaguing SF and some tech giants, but the density of SF is too high and it's location is still world class for several key measures in investment and even livability. It's going to take a long time for them to figure it out.

My wife was at Reid Hoffman's masters of scale last week and she was shocked how much SF has deteriorated. It's really a shame. It's a special city.

And I sympathize with a lot of what Democrats stand for. But when you look at the results of them being in charge - oh my.

I posted the first part in a different thread thread. It was very insightful for a generalist view on America's "9 countries." Many of the details he lists in the Ecotopia-Bay Area are spot on.
