KPJ: Can someone explain to me why he has become Clutchfans favorite whipping boy?

Tony Parker was not even a 'pass first" pg.

He averaged 5.6 a game.

I think most people on clutchfans have watched basketball enough to know what a Point Guard looks like. KPJ is not a Point Guard

It wasn't me saying he is a Westbrook / Iverson same level type of player, it was saying that pass happy assist hunting only type PG's haven't won many titles over the said scoring PG's

KPJ just needs to learn when to iso/take over in the crunch time 2nd/4th quarters and keep everybody else involved since he has weapons around him and he said he was the PG of the team, that's what a so called scoring PG job is from my 2 cents of the spectrum

if KPJ had Iverson overall team talent from 99 - 04 then his efficiency wouldn't be soured upon because he would be options 1-4 and taking volume shots from the PG/scoring position would hurt overall %

Who else is going to do better with the ball is pretty irrelevant when all I was doing was directly refuting your claim that he isn’t ball dominant.

 

KPJ is not a pg, but he is a very good shooting guard. There is a place for him with this team.

 

I have no issue being challenged, that's why I asked for the link, I like to be educated.

I looked at usage rates and compared him to Holiday, that's why I wanted to see who else was on the list.

Neither of these things makes a guy ball dominant IMO but its good to get as much data as possible.

Didn't say it was the only thing, i said with the skill to match that athletic ability is what makes those type of players very special, and i get that the other attributes in addition to it, but having natural supreme athletic ability in a sport is key in the sports world and when you add all the other elements you get the Wilt / AI / Bron / Oscar and other special type players who possess those other traits you mentioned, but the base of athletic ability is the speed/jumping and dexterity aspect

Sengun is not what i would call an elite athlete but he has strong anticipation / timing and smarts that can make up for the lack of being supreme athletic but he can jump/dunk but he is no young Amare Stoudamire or Shawn Kemp, but he has enough ability to do his thing on the court for sure

if you think he is an elite athlete then that is your free will opinion, it is what it be

 

Is the assumption that if any other player was playing "point" for the Rockets that they wouldnt have a higher "time of possession" considering the offensive attack the coach wants to employ? I think you could plug in Ty Ty as the starter and he would also be dominating the ball, but Ty Ty cant stress a defense, shoot 3's at a good enough clip or defend at an average rate to be considered. Jalen doesnt have the passing acumen to have him bring the ball up and set the table. Who's left? Alpy? Tari? Same thing if either of those guys were tasked with creation and lead duties they would also have an alarmingly high rate of possession. Its the offense, not the player(s). Its no surprise that the top 10 in possession is dominated by heliocentric players/offenses. Without Chris Wood in there to greedily take what he wants it just seems to be more of an issue - its really not. KPJ is breaking down defenses - now he needs to trust his shooters. If he's not running "plays" as coach directs then I could see the problem. "Finding guys in the corner" on broken plays doesnt always happen. If the intent is to create those shots and KPJ is thumbing his nose then it needs to be addressed.

 

That doesn't seem too bad, he is the guy bringing it up and initiating the offense, we don't have any other option to do this other than Nix.
