Normally I would agree with you but if you click on the YT link and watch that debate, anyone who’s on the fence will not be voting for Fetterman. He’s clearly not well.
Listening to the highlights from yesterday neither side was as awful as the Twitter partisans made it out to be. Fetterman had a stroke but his policy points were still sound and the sound-byte about local government being involved in abortion reads worse than how he said it. If I lived in Pa, I’d still vote for Fetterman and I were a conservative I’d still vote for Oz. I don’t think the debate moves the needle.
The stroke occurred before the primary and there was a perfectly viable alternative in Conor Lamb. Fetterman should have withdrawn. But if you prefer progressive policy outcomes, you should vote for Fetterman, whether or not he is a vegetable.
I didn’t see the whole debate but that is my impression. Neither side appears to giv a knock out blow. Fetterman wasn’t very sharp but he didn’t appear incapable. Fetterman though wasn’t able to paint Oz as being a carpetbagger out of touch with PA. The debate largely appears a wash.
Fetterman gave really confused answers to some questions. As in, incomprehensible. Not sure if that had to do with his medical condition or whatever, but it was really bad.
American politics… a grifter, millionaire, New Jersey, tv personality has a good chance of becoming a Pennsylvania Senator. I truly don’t understand Americans love for grifters,
Debates are useless in our age of takes and don't matter but i literally cannot think of a worse answer than saying "a woman her doctors and local political leaders"
His position is literally what 70% of pennsylvanians and americans believe, but democrats are so desperate for anything from that debate they will pretend its a big deal
I think the majority of Americans don't understand what sensory processing disorders are. It's kind of like the majority of Americans will talk louder to someone that isn't a native English speaker. I think very few people will base their votes on the debate. I won't.
you can take any state and find similar numbers . this says 68% of Pennsylvania think abortion should be between lady, doctor, and the government. I guess one could claim its 54%, but either way Oz's view is mainstream and popular.
I can agree with that regarding his response last night. Oz previously though hasn't been so equivocal on that and has not taken a stand regarding the Graham bill that would federalize abortion and previously said that he called abortion murder.
Seems like kind of a generized statement to lump that 54% into the category of "let government decide." Mainly because "under certain circumstances" is very broad in and of itself. I would assume if the government decided, as they have, many of these 54% would be unhappy because their specific scenario will not be met. Kind of a catch 22 of a stat, if you will.
Nope. If you think government should ban certain abortions and allow others then you believe in letting government in on the process. Nothing 'generalized' about it. What's incredible is Democrats not realizing how extreme their 'no limits on abortion' stance is. They take are taking this position in every battleground state even though its very unpopular as opposed to Oz's mainstream stance.
The problem is that once the government says "no", then the mother and doctor are no longer involved in that discussion.
I get your point, and I agree with the second paragraph. My point is that I think that is a very narrow scope of polling on a nuanced topic that is being used to push an agenda. Lies, damned lies, and statistics kind of thing.
Here Oz is talking out of both sides of his mouth. Yes what he said in the debate last night does fit with that, and yes what "some restrictions" mean is also not universally agreed upon. Oz has previously taken a different stance during the primaries.
