The one platform republicans actually have, telling doctors to go **** themselves, and republicans get upset when the left addresses it.
If it was a boob job on some Miami teen girl would he have the same viewpoint? If it was guns, would he care? Guns kill far more people. It isn't even remotely the biggest issue if some teeny tiny percentage of people have trans surgery. Time to address the most important matters and quit focusing on the least important. DeSantis is all messed up in his priorities with his obsession over trans teens, books, teachers, and gays. Kind of like you and the GOP. Maybe he should be focusing on the huge explosion of right wing hate groups in his state and call them out and worry more about them. He won't though, because they align with his views. They support him.
Crist didn't harp on the guns issue presumably because he knew it wouldn't win him votes, and he didn't do anything about it as governor either.
Times have changed dude. DeSantis isn't addressing issues that should be his priority. In fact, it will get worse. He will keep on pushing right wing agena instead of the most important issues to keep his hate groups and right wing support as he decides whether to run for President. The rise in right wing hate groups, property insurance, and gun laws should be his priority. I don't live in Florida so I don't really care, but as long as he keeps going like he is he will encourage more Americans to vote against him if he runs for President. So, he can burn his own bridge to ultimate power and I could care less. The LGBTQ community, those who want assault weapons banned, those who want gun reform, and the majority of women will not be voting for him.
He will win. So either you are wrong about them not voting for him - or - gasp - some special interest groups aren't actually as important as the economy, freedom (e.g. from totalitarian Covid measures) and protecting parental rights. You know, some people have different world views from you. Doesn't make all these people fascists, even though that appears to be what you think.
That's you personal viewpoint. We disagree. You are wrong about me labeling all people with different views fascists. What DeSantis and other right wing Republicans do is very close though. It's dangerous and disturbing.
The good thing is, the voters get to decide. And I think we would both agree that we shall respect the outcome of a fair and free election, right? P.S.: Wait...did you just say that you disagree with me saying that not everyone who disagrees with you is a fascist? So you are basically saying "either you share my world views or you are a fascist"?
Right wing Republicans don't believe in a free and fair election. It's full of people pleading the 5th about Trump's coup to steal the election. It's full of voting suppressors, election deniers, and liars spreading false truths. It's full of people coddling hate groups, and spreading BS against people who don't fit their straight White Christian Nationalist mold. You can try twisting words all you want, but the ones doing that stuff for support and power are borderline fascists.
what's interesting about this "voter suppresion" angle democrats took on a state like Georgia is the fact in 2022 Georgia is breaking early voting records. If those nasty republicans in georgia made early voting so hard, then why is there such a huge increase with it? seems to me the dems may have been blowing smoke on this issue and/or not telling the complete truth behind these laws (or comparing them to more liberal states).
https://www.apmreports.org/story/2019/10/28/georgia-voting-deadlines-2020-election https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/oct/05/georgia-voter-suppression-registration-challenges I think increased voter turn out is in spite of Georgia's legislation to suppress it. Not because of it.
in what way? using georgia as an example, its laws aren't as restrictive as NY or CO. And they are seeing record turnout right now, so it doesn't look like voting was suppressed at all. how can it be when hours were extended and Sundays were added? you can say it is in spite of Georgia legislation if you want, but clearly that's not the case. they literally added days and extended the hours polling places would remain open. what it looks like to me is the new laws made voting more convenient and people have planned better. plus the claim about less polling places is VERY misleading. Georgia didnt have these places prior to 2020. it was literally a pandemic reason only, so now in 2022 moving forward, there are permanent polling places where folks can drop off their ballots.and yes, water can still be passed out so long as it's by nonpartisan poll workers, not random supports of whichever candidate. it's time to move away from the talking points/false narratives that was pushed on the Georgia law. it's not playing out like that at all in real life.
Death by a thousand cuts’: Georgia’s new voting restrictions threaten midterm election https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/oct/05/georgia-voter-suppression-registration-challenges Oh, and as for Florida you must have missed the news about making voting easier for hurricane victims in red districts, but not for the hardest hit blue districts.
If there's been no evidence of fraud and people actually used all those voting stations, why would you remove them if it makes it more convenient and easier to vote? Why wouldn't you increase the number of places voting can be conducted and make it as safe and accessible as possible for every able bodied voter? Why revert back to old rules when the implementations done during Covid made it easier for people to vote while still being safe and secure? If there was fraud or the U.S. government cared about budgeting or something I'd get it I guess, but the U.S. spends as much as it wants on whatever it decides it wants to spend on and there's been no fraud. Why not keep those 107 stations open since it's to the benefit of voters, both conservative and liberal? Why are you siding with Georgia politicians to make it harder for citizens to vote? If I could cut 10 minutes of transit out of my trip to vote and a politician increased it by 20, I'd be upset even if I could still vote. My time isn't important? This is what my vote gets me if I vote for Georgia Republicans? I don't matter enough to have a voting station that's close by while still being safe and accessible? I don't get your logic. With your logic, I should be voting for politicians who deliberately make my life harder. With your logic, I should just be grateful that I even CAN still vote. Convenience and experience of voting be damned. Apparently that's above criticism. Why wouldn't I vote for politicians that would actually want to make my voting experience easier?
The percent of kids getting trans surgery and people voting fraudulently is so low, yet Republicans obsess over it when they should be addressing much more relevant issues like gun violence, school shootings, and affordable healthcare.
If DeSantis wins in a fair and square election, will you accept it, and the fact that he will then do the things he said he would do?
