Embiid finally had a good scoring game and it's Harden's turn for poor shooting.

Here's the midrange shooting from the playoff runs of the NBA Finals teams over the last 4 years

2022 GS 46.6% 10pts/game from midrange 8.9% of their pts from midrange
2022 BOS 41.6% 8pts/game from midrange 7.5% of their pts from midrange

2021 MIL 40.0% 11.4 pts/game from midrange 10.3% of their pts from midrange
2021 PHO 44.8% 16pts/ game from midrange 14.6% of their pts from midrange

2020 LAL 42.4% 10.2 pts/game from midrange 9% of their pts from midrange
2020 MIA 41.3% 9.6 pts/game from midrange 8.7% of their pts from midrang

2019 TOR 40.5% 11 pts/game from midrange 10.3% of their pts from midrange
2019 GS 41.6% 15.6 pts/game from midrange 13.6% of their pts from midrange

None of the 8 finals teams are using all that much midrange and they generally shot the midrange poorly.

From an efficiency or volume point of view midrange isn't the "most effective way to score".

James Harden leaves his teams in disarray.
    1) Houston
    2) Brooklyn
    3) Philadelphia?

Harden yet another nice game. If Embid would have shown up the first two they would have been off to a good start

Nice bounceback win for the 76ers over the overmatched Pacers. only caught the 1st half, but they played with much better effort and synergy than they did vs the Spurs.

Harden played well and was very efficient

    29/9/11 | 10-18 fg 5-10 3pt | 1 TO

The early trend of his shots/game changing continues:
    - 16 of his 18 shots came outside the paint.
    - He only attempted and made 1 fg at the rim.
    - Made 3 of 5 fga from the mid-range.

it’s not even a debate of if he looks better than last year

he can no longer dominate at the rim, so he’s now going back to the midrange game to compensate

he doesn’t turnaround fadeaway like Kobe or T-Mac from midrange, but he creates midrange attempts so easily

I wished he developed that midrange stepback when he was still with us.

I love James but he needs to do it in the playoffs. He has nothing to prove in the regular season.

In his first year, he did it all the time he even gave it a name. He used to call it the step-daddy. Morey convinced him to change his shot diet to more threes.

He also had a classic Harden straight line lay-up where his first step looked good, so the capability is there.

Seeing the mid-range utilized to this degree is huge though, not only for this year but for his long-term ability to maintain a high level of play.

Friendly reminder that Harden on the Nets right now in Simmons place would be unstoppable. ALL he would have do is initiate things for KD/Kyrie who are just lighting it up. AND they finally have depth now, which they didn't last two years. Harden made the biggest mistake of his life by forcing his way out. Why? Cuz Kyrie didn't take the vax which ultimately wouldn't matter because EVERYONE in NY KNEW they would lift the sanction eventually? What a ****ing idiot.

James, KD, and Kyrie were always unstoppable when they were on the floor together...just a combination of a lot of bad events coinciding led to James putting his trust back in Morey. We'll have to wait and see how it ultimately pans out.

I think Nash being coach was also one of the main sticking points of him wanting out. He's a very bad coach.

I was monitoring that Brooklyn situation really carefully. He was playing with scrubs in January and had NO spacing after KD got hurt. Brooklyn had god awful depth, but as long as KD came back and Kyrie would be cleared to play, they could make a run. Instead he bails on them at the dumbest possible time. Like, Philly was going to have cap space to sign him in the summer anyway as long as they attach some picks to Tobias's contract. He definitely should have just played that season out with Brooklyn and reassess his options as a FA. That was his best chance at a title. And did it cross his mind that by leaving Brooklyn, he would also have to GO THROUGH Brooklyn in the East now? Of course not. Because he was an impulsive **** who didn't think things over, just like forcing CP3 out for Russ. EVERYONE knew that was a bad trade except him.
