Silas post game said KPJ can get the ball more, at this point its on coaching, KPJ plays the way he does because Silas enables it
Jalen and Jabari’s mini-spat means nothing, and Jalen gave big props to Jabari after the game. I suspect that there was frustration bubbling the entire game, especially when KPJ decided that he and he alone was the Rockets’ offense. That said, KPJ played well enough and put up big numbers. Jalen was super efficient and finally played some focused defense late in the game(though he got very few touches in the 4th), and Jabari had his best game in his young career thus far! Garuda was pretty fun too I’m hoping for back-to-back wins against the Jazz, and I believe it is very doable.
I think you might be too use to the Harden style. We have a different game plan now. Expecting him to be an 8-9 assist guy is unrealistic. He is a combo guard and Green might become one as well.
I'll say this about KPJ: There are benefits to having a score-first PG next to Green. With a more traditional, "pass-first" PG, I think teams could key on Green more. They really can't because they need to also worry about KPJ, and then there's Smith ready to drain some threes, opening up the lanes for both KPJ and Green. In short, I get why some want a guy more Chris Paul-esque. What I don't like is people pretending that KPJ is some massive problem with no major benefits.
Why is nobody moving at the same time though? 4 guys each with their hands out waiting for a pass is not a very good offense either. If getting Jabari the ball is the plan why doesn’t he get any screens/back screens and actual shooting plays? It’s still pass it to him and expect him to win his 1 v 1. Ugly all around and definitely not the fault of any single player. The rotations suck. The chemistry sucks. Turnovers suck. This looks like a young and inexperienced team right now I’m surprised we won. By the sounds of Silas in the presser he isn’t too thrilled with KPJs “dancin and all that stuff” so hopefully they get it under control - running some motion and actual assignment driven and structured plays would benefit them all.
Silas might surprise people later in his career. He has basically been given instructions to tank and develop. Hard to say how he would do with a complete roster that wants to win. He's a good guy with a good thesis. Players like him and the culture is improved. I'd consider moving on if we don't make the playoffs next season.
His touch stats are only inflated because he brings the ball up the court. He doesn't even lead the team in front half touches, Sengun does
It's not KPJ at this point if Silas is in the post game interviews saying KPJ can get the ball more, Silas is telling KPJ that he needs to iso and building the team around KPJ and Jalen Isos, I was never on "team fire Silas" but he is not going to be able to Turn KPJ into a PG.
Jabari wasn’t any better, he was a traffic cone himself, the lauri guy just went around him, yes he had 5 fouls but dudes where just getting by him throughout. This team has issues on both sides of the ball.
Where was the scapegoating? You seem very sensitive over the fact that this was not a good win for the team.
Gee that would be real rapid improvement from our young team to make the Playoffs next season. I suppose it would depend on who we got in free agency.
Hells yeah! Fun game! Better defense and hustle Smith looking great!!!! Green and Porter kicking azz E Gor and Nix doin their thang. FUN GAME AND FIRST WIN DEALING j*zz their first Loss!
Based on what I have heard about Smith at Rockets practices, my assumption is that Jabari doesn’t play. He is 19 going on WWII Normandy infantryman.
I don't care about how bad we looked on O at times, our D was good, and we won.......end of story. DD
