Kpj the scorer did well, kpj the point guard did pretty bad. Awful turnovers. Led the team in assist by 1 more assist.
I'm fine with both of them ISOing from time to time, the issue IMO is that they go into every halfcourt possession seemingly without any plan and just lean on KPJ or Green to make something happen. Doing that sometimes is okay, but you need some more set plays, more pick and roll, more structure. Hopefully they dump Silas after this season and get a real coach.
I don't know if they did but they should have had assists as an incentive in his contract. KPJ just leaves so many of them out there when he collapses the defense and instead tries to make this extra hard layup instead of kicking it out. A lot of talk his first year about how he admired Harden and how he could be a poor man's Harden but Harden dropped dimes all over the place. James Harden had years where he was top 5 in APG and had a year leading the NBA in assists. KPJ had four tonight. It's frustrating because the talent is there but he's still young so for now he's worth the headache in hopes that he puts it all together. And this post isn't about Green because he does the same thing sometimes.
I hate when you say legit things about how a player is playing and people act like you are blaming them for everything lol its really weird. I cant find one person who said everything is KPJ's fault just people saying they dont want him to iso so much.
Team is young and they don't know how to close yet. That's coming. But when you don't know how to close, as a TEAM should, you resort back to what you do best, which is ISO ball.
The thing i hate the most is when KPJ does an iso, drives and then tries to kick it back and turn it over.
Great win!! I'm a lip reader, and I know what happened in the sideline spat Green came into the timeout, pointed at Smith and said "we will iso you" Smith knew what he meant. Ok. Most likely guess is that Green said we needed to make sure we get the rebound on any miss and called out Jabari - who took offense. No big deal - just 2 winners having a spat because they are frustrated after 3 straight losses
I think it was Green and Smith getting into it about defensive assignments, Green looking to call out Smith for not rotating over the help on a few plays and Smith not wanting to get called out by the worst defender on the team.
WTF with the Spurs going off? Who would have thought that they would be 3 and 1 out the gate? Pop is a legend. His coaching tree is impressive.
KPJ passing back to Jabari for a wide open 3 was the best play of the whole game for me. I was euphoric in the moment. I love that. KPJ can legit have 15 assists just passing to bari in the corner.. Just that gawd damn set up can open KPJ up for more 50pt games. i dont understand why they dont see that
I think possibility this is more of a coaching issue. Silas in the off-season said they were going to implement more offensive sets but definitely am not seeing it.
