Yep. I'm expecting it to be the best MCU movie for non fanboys since endgame. The Dashikis will be all over the theater
Primarily it doesn't In Fact. . . .The Dora Milaje/Makia/Shuri are probably the most Well Liked Female Characters in the MCU EXCEPT maybe Black Widow Rocket River
I think that's just out of respect for Boseman. I'm expecting this to essentially be Shuri's Black Panther origin story. I don't think she really has to carry the load though, the whole Wakanda world is probably enough along with Namor and others.
If the new BP is indeed Shuri, I hope they give her a better backstory than "my brother died, so I guess it's up to me now!" Feels like nepotism. Unless they change the lore, you could usually challenge for the mantle in ritual combat. Being mindful of this, it's just a bit unbelievable to see Shuri, probably 90 lbs soaking wet, go hand to hand against any challenger, male or female. I get it if they don't address this, and for the sake of the story, go with Shuri. But it just doesn't feel right, to me, from a storytelling perspective.
But then why were most media outlets wondering who the next Black Panther was going to be, following Boseman's death? If it was so cut-and-dry, there'd be no need for speculation. Even in the comics, iirc, it wasn't automatically assumed Shuri was next in line, assuming T'Challa was incapable of fulfilling his duties. Again, I understand if Feige and the powers that be automatically give Shuri the position in the MCU, but I just hope there's more of a story to tell, other than it being that simple. Even if it is passed down, T'Challa, in the first movie, definitely earned it. I don't feel like Shuri, for all intents and purposes, has earned it.
Really? I would take at least over 80% (if not more, just being conservative) of the female population in that outfit over any dude. I mean, if that's how your roll that's your business, but definitely don't see what you are seeing.
probably my favorite seen in all of that Falcon and the Winter Soldier show is when the Dora Milaje gave discount Captain America a case of the beats
This has probably been talked about through the thread, I'm not sure... But I might be in the minority of the opinion that they shouldn't have made another one. Black Panther was an iconic movie. Chadwick was the perfect black panther. Was it a 10/10 movie? No. Was it the best MCU movie? No. However it was a milestone of a movie. It's relatively rare to see a major blockbuster superhero film starring an African-American protagonist, let alone a supporting cast that is also overwhelmingly African-American. And Chadwick was pretty much meant for the role, he was exceptional. After his death I really feel they should have let the movie stand alone and not even think about a sequel. Let the movie stand alone in cinema history. Let it be known Black Panther was Chadwick Boseman. Instead, in true Disney fashion they continue on to milk the cash cow. I have no idea how good the new one will be, or what direction they went. I just feel like they should have let the first one ride off into the sunset.
I'll probably go see this, because I don't miss Marvel movies. However they're gonna have to do a lot to get me on board with Shuri being the new BP. I know it's comic accurate, but I think they should have went outside the box, maybe even introduce an entirely original character. Everything about her gave off funny sidekick vibes, and I'm not sure the actress has the on screen charisma or acting range to be the focal point of a huge movie.
