I say let him work through it. We see how it worked for Green. Though Green did have an extended stretch of injury that he got to sit on the pine and watch the game that I think helped tremendously. Maybe something like that will work for Smith, too.

The hate Silas has for Sengun is unfathomable, blaming the loss on him after the game he had.

Silas, learn how to coach and create schemes that fit our talented players instead of throwing them under the bus.

Great human being, awful head coach.

KPJ is not the answer at PG, need to move on

Bari will be fine, he won't be a star but he'll be a great role player once he settles down

Green disappointed me in the 4th, he looked rattled, scared of the moment. Toyota Center was rocking last night, amazing turnout, I was there. Maybe the environment was too much for Green since it was nothing like that last season but I seen it with my own eyes, the kid was passive when it mattered.

    Trade Gordon, play Eason

Sengun being the answer at center is up for debate. His numbers don't tell the overall story

Also, I found it very odd that KPJ was announced last.

I would make a move. I would fire Silas. He seems to be walking on egg shells around KPJ and letting him do whatever he wants cuz he knows an outburst is coming. I think KPJ is a fine player who is developing bad habits right now cuz the coach is enabling him to do whatever he wants. He's gotta realize he's not that good. I mean he wasn't even voted top 100 players and we treat him like he's James harden. Someone tell this man that when a player is hot you feed them. Team success is all that matters not Hsi individual stats..

A bit negative, but understandable assessment. Both Gordon and Martin are the ones I’d look to trade at some point.

Didn't get to watch the game but from some of the responses here I can tell what transpired.
I didn't want to knee jerk after a game and have observed this since last year but KPJ and Jalen do not fit together as a backcourt as much as they and the Rockets want to force it. Its an awkward fit. They both basically do the same things on the floor they're respective games dnt compliment each other nor do they cover each others weaknesses like some of the best backcourts do. its basically 2 shooting guards out there

That was a fun game. Jabari was taking too many ill advised shots like he is the man, he has to understand he is a rookie and get into the flow of the offense and not force rubbish. KPJ also did this a few times too. Ja was unstoppable tonight nothing much you can do about that guy. The dude jumps out of the building every single timeGood growth game from Green.

Jalen finishing with his left while hanging. Jordan/Kobe Esque type of play.

First step is lightning, the second and third are light speed.

    He is how old again?

Scoot is the next Ja Morant. Speaking about the latter, I'm shocked how good Morant has become. Dude became a superstar in just 3 years. Crazy good.

Its not two games. Its the whole body of work he has done since he’s been here for a year and a half. Its how he plays and what he does on the court. He can be the right piece for the right team as a bench guy or if he simplifies his game. I have said this for a while now. Same way Wiggins has been successful with GS KPJ can do the same. Its about fit and Green needs a different type of pg that’s either a playmaker getting the whole team involved or a simple tough shoot and defend guy like Banes or Jrue Holiday.

Facts most of the great 2 guards didn't have another guy in the backcourt taking shots away
    Kobe had Fisher
    Jordan had a combo of 3 & D Pg's
Harden played best with a pass first guard or a 3 & D like Bev
Wade had Chalmers Gary Payton Jason Williams

Thats why i love the KPJ contract. If he becomes amazing this year he is worth keeping but if not then simply release him. It’s not working and it hasn’t worked. KPJ had the blinders on and looked to score every possession.

I think this game will be a good film study for KPJ on how important it is to take it to the basket, and then make your free throws. I think the main thing that is holding him back is his free throw shooting. His poor FT shooting likely contributes to his lack of aggressiveness at the rim, which ultimately hurts his shooting percentages. I really believe that improved FT shooting would unlock KPJ.

Overall, this was a fun game to watch. There are certainly things about such a young team that frustrate you, but you can definitely see the potential. And it's nice not to be so invested in the ultimate outcome. There are benefits to both wins and losses. Really glad that we get another one tonight. Hopefully Gordon is not playing back-to-backs this year.

We can even go further with more examples.
Steph & Klay compliment each others weaknesses
    Cp3 & Booker
    Young & Murray
    Ball & Lavine
    DLo and Edwards

Notice how Adams was big in blocking several shots in the paint in critical moments late in the game. Most good teams have this. As good Sengun is offensively he hurts us by not having defensive presence in the paint. These things separate great teams from mediocre or bad ones.

And the only way two dynamic guards can work together is if they’re both playmakers and harden and CP3 were both playmakers. Same with Trae and Murray. But 2 scoring guards together usually doesn’t work for as long as I have watched the NBA.

I still see the potential in KPJ, but I don't think it's ultimately as a starting PG. My hope is that they try to upgrade that position this offseason either through free agency or the draft and we still get to see him for a year in a non-facilitator/6th man role.

And I actually think he can play with Green if he defers to Green and simplifies his game. But it hasn’t happened and likely won’t. The courses of action I see if im coaching this team is to make Green the primary playmaker and put the ball more in his hands and put a tough defensive minded guard next to him that can shoot. Go get a guy like that. Or get a big time playmaker that can get to the paint and pass and gets teammates involved and playing winning basketball.
