How is stone the problem? You got a problem he turned the oldest team in the league with 0 upcoming picks into one full of up and coming players with lots of potential in only 2 yrs?

If you have a problem with Stone YOU are the problem.

People here are pretty crazy either pining for Wood or saying he was some garbage player.

Reality is Wood is a really good offensive option who has star flashes now and then. He isnt a franchise player and neither is he good enough to carry a crappy team but at the same time its not like he is some trash tier in fact he was our best player for almost his entire tenure on the Rockets. Everyone fixating on his fts but conveniently forgot he had 25 8 2 ast 1 blck on 60% FG in only 24 mins, thats pretty good.

The only reason he was traded is cuz at 27 yrs old he gonna be washed once Jalen, Jabari and Tari are ready to win. And he wants a big deal obv we'd rather pay the other guys than him. But as a player he wasnt bad at all not surprised he is blowing up in Dallas.

Thanks for this very reasonably take.

Since Harden was gone, I have been just lurking in here without commenting. Of course I'm watching closely Dallas now because of Luka. I went through tons of posts about Wood. Knowing most of them were subjective because he just left/was traded, I couldn't form an informed opinion.

After one game, I still haven't. But it wouldn't be too far fetched to say Wood is the most offensively gifted player Luka has every played with. I still think Dallas needs a second star to contend, but if Wood is your 4th best player after Luka, 2nd star and probably Dorian Finney-Smith, the team should do alright in the playoffs.

potential is just an empty word to cover up for 2 years in a row being the worst team in nba and unwatchable...he turned a basketball club into a reality show circus...its fine you appreciate it, good for you(!), but this is not basketball...

.... Jalen Green, Jabari Smith, Tari Eason, Alperen Sengun, if you don't see what this "circus" allowed Houston to do... interesting. And nothing about this year is unwatchable unless there are injuries. Seeing 19/20/21 year olds develop and find their role in the league is awesome. Stone has done an incredible job, giving us a future and also, giving us assets in the future.

So you think the game vs Memphis is just a circus? Then dont watch anymore and leave the Rox. I dont understand why you b**** and moan all the time but keep sticking around. Nobody is holding you hostage go to the Sixers forum nobody here gives a F. Your gods Morey, Harden, PJ Tucker etc they are all there MDA is the only one missing. According to you they are playing real basketball there so go there instead of b****ing snd moaning and groaning here every post you make. Fertita is the owner now and will be the owner for the foreseable future. Nothing will change so if you are that unhappy just go away.

The funny thing is Rox didnt even win anything in the Harden era yet you act like the team won a ring every year under Morey.

Smith is a career 36% 3 pt shooter. Wood is a 38% 3 pt shooter. Smith is a guard right? I think Wood at worst should be the 3rd option in a contending team. Any lower and its a waste of his talent.

It's easy to just look at stats without context. DFS was an undrafted player who couldn't shoot 3s, but worked very hard on it. Hence his terrible %s in first three seasons: 29%, 29% and 31%. Last three seasons though: 37%, 39% and 39%. Mavs' best defender and one of best perimeter defenders in the league. He reminds me a bit of Ariza in 4-3 loss against GSW season, only a bit stronger and better on offensive boards.

If Wood tries on defense as hard as he did in first two games with Mavs and manages to stay on the floor at end of tight games in playoffs, I would put him in front of DFS for sure.

??? What does defense have to do with being an offensive option? Draymond Green is GSW's best defender he def aint getting all the shots on that team.

DFS has good percentages but also has little volume to show for it. Dude's a 6 ppg scorer with TS% 58% while Christian Wood is a 25 ppg scorer at 66%(!!!!) TS%. Pretty clear who should be the 2nd option and it aint DFS.

CWood has his flaws but he is an offensive beast, not surprised he is unleashed plsying with Luka.

I thought you meant 2nd best player after Luka, not offensive option. In the minutes Luka and Wood spent on the floor together against the Suns, they had an amazing offensive output, but also allowed the same amount of points scored by Suns.

I don't know if you watched any DAL/PHX playoff games last season, but DFS was their 3rd best player in that series after Luka and Brunson.

I mean the whole concept of every tanking or bad team having a decent chance to rebuild no matter how bad they are is not really a concept that grows on everyone.

Stone has done okay for me but the whole NBA got to change to overcome this willingness to be bad.

I am saying this not because Houston's benefits from it.

I could live with it for now but I am hopeful the league will change in time, it's getting boring.

    Losing is contagious.

Finney Smith is a SF part time PF.

    Can play couple positions.

Wood has always been a great talent, he needed an elite playmaker to play off of, and some structure to hold him accountable on D. He had neither here, besides like 10 games of please-trade-me-Harden. We'll see if this newfound maturity holds up, but it looks like he found his home.

If he the 3rd best player why is he scoring 6 ppg? In the playoffs he scored 11 ppg thats just role player tier Luka would need a lot more.output from his 3rd best player if he is gonna go anywhere.

And before you tell me stats arent everything I know that but at the same time your 3rd guy better be Dennis Rodman if he is only scoring 11 ppg and DFS didnt exactly win all defense last year.

Funny you mention vs PHX cuz Cwood won that game by scoring 25 ppg on 57% 3p shooting and 60% from the field. In fact CWood had the second highest plus minus unlike DFS who was negative 10. If Kidd played CWood more than 24 mins maybe that game wouldnt have been so close.
