Paolo doesnt need good peripheral play around him to determine his value since he elevates those that he plays with. He doesnt need guards to "find him in the corner". He dictates tempo and can switch roles from play to play plus he's a better defender than most gave him credit for. He does so much on the court - way more value than shooting centric defenders. Pretty much what I expected. Would have looked much better in Rocket red IMO and no doubt would have helped out last night, but spilled milk and all that stuff. Remember the uproar when some guys tried to find similarities between him and Lebron? Welp yeah. Whatever.
Remember Paolo was playing against one of the worst teams in the league last night while Jabari was playing against an Eastern conference contender.
I don't know who took and shared the photo of Stone eating w/ Banchero before the draft but that was a rookie mistake. I wish he refused to meet with Orlando or told them he didn't want to play for them but I know players wouldn't pass up the opportunity of being drafted #1. It's also possible OKC would have drafted him at #2 if available. I love Jabari but I think Banchero would have made Rockets title contenders next season. Many of the stars are getting older; Lebron, K.D, Harden, etc. Having JG and Banchero on the court together at their age would be huge. Hopefully he'll demand a trade next year. Lol
This had me laughing out loud at the drs office lmao.. That was one of my favorite movies growing up.
What are you comparing them for? The first player in the draft SHOULD be the best player in the draft. 63% of 1st overall picks have been all-stars. We don't need to hope for Paulo to fail in order to support Smith
Jabari was pegged as the #1 pick for the vast majority of the offseason, though, and many felt as though the Rockets got the best player in the draft. Top 3 picks will always be compared to each other, especially if there isn't someone that was clearcut. Just saying that Paolo's nice first game doesn't automatically mean the Magic made the right decision.
Sure - I agree with you! I'm just saying that there is 0 pressure on Jabari or the Rockets in this scenario. Paulo went first, and so needs to be the best player (especially better than Jabari)
Melo with playmaking and defense. Penny and Hill are perimeter players they arent really comparable to Paolo IMO since Paolo has been taking it inside and letting Franz play on the perimeter.
Magic the right decision for their team, there is no wrong choice between Jabari and Paolo you win either way. However specifically for the Magic Paolo is better for them cuz their playmakers all suck ass Suggs, Cole Anthony and Fultz are all scrubs so having Paolo helping out on playmaking duty alogside Franz Wagner is good for them.
I think it's hard to argue that the Magic didn't make the right decision. Paolo works for them, and he's obviously very talented. Great NBA body and tbh looks like a great pick. Jabari is a sniper with switchable D at 7 feet. They don't grow on trees, and he fits our team great.
