from the GM survey Which team has the most promising young core? 1. Cleveland Cavaliers – 41% 2. Memphis Grizzlies – 38% 3. Detroit Pistons – 10% » Also receiving votes: New Orleans Pelicans, Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic » Last year: Atlanta Hawks – 50% Rockets didn’t get a single vote NBA.com had a recent poll of who will be the best rookie in 5 years…the options were Paolo, Chet, Ivey, or Keegan…Jabari nowhere to be found as a choice a media plant like Herb Jones getting pushed as a worthy replacement for Jalen Green on All-Rookie 1st Team in the final days of the regular season all the published player rankings this summer had Jalen Green at least 20+ spots below everyone else taken top 4 in his draft class in redrafts, he is being placed 6th if this isn’t a conspiracy then fine, but
These things are always so...odd. It just goes to show that most of the GMs are actually stupid and are very reactionary, that's how scrubs get silly contracts every year because they are simply going by "Cavs and Grizzlies made the playoffs last year, must be good..." Cavs have nice young players but I don't think any of those guys scream future ALL NBA 1st Team....Grizz have one dude that they probably going to struggle to put people around. Their last year vote of the Hawks shows they might not be too good at predicting futures. They are reactionary. If the Rockets were to slip in through the play-ins they'd be #1 next year.
I don't see much difference, it's still straight line drives or a couple of dribbles then a pull up. To be a better battier he is going to have to be up there mentally as well and even then I would have to see what other guys become that were drafted after Smith. I think his dribbling might be a mental thing, if he becomes Tatum Lite I would be ecstatic and it's not out of the realm of possibility. With that said my biggest issue is what happens on a 2nd contract when we should be looking to be a contender or one piece away and is better Battier worth franchise type money?
https://theathletic.com/3697751/2022/10/17/nba-season-predictions-2022-23/ Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero, Magic – 18 Keegan Murray, Kings – 13 Jabari Smith Jr., Rockets – 5 Jaden Ivey, Pistons – 2 Shaedon Sharpe, Trail Blazers – 1 Paolo Banchero, Magic: Banchero is big, talented and in a great situation to produce immediately. That’s a great recipe to win some hardware. Banchero seems like he’s going under the radar a bit, which seems unfathomable for the No. 1 pick. Maybe it’s because he wasn’t the presumed top pick pre-draft. Maybe it’s because he’s in Orlando, hardly an attention hotbed. But he’s a tantalizing playmaker and a legit 6-foot-10 on a roster where he could be the primary guy almost immediately for a team that could be surprisingly competitive this season relative to expectations. — Mike Vorkunov Keegan Murray, Kings: The multi-faceted No. 4 pick should open the season as the Kings’ starting power forward and thrive between a solid mix of veterans. Murray has the most mature, “NBA-ready” game among this season’s rookies. Everything he does looks comfortable and confident. His sharpshooting will make him an immediate threat as a trusted floor spacer, and he’ll also generate offense himself. He’s in the best situation to succeed. — Darnell Mayberry
Lol Jabari is already better than Battier how many times did Battier crack 15 pts and grab more than 6 rebs? Battier college stats: 13.6 pts 6.1 rebs 1.6 ast Jabari college stats: 16.9 7.4 rebs 2 ast Keep in mind Battier was 23 yrs old while Jabari is 19. Are you trying to be the 2nd Bobbythegreat or what? I'd say better Battier is an insult except Battier is actually a decent role player. He is far inferior to Jabari though, wont fill up the stat sheets like Jabari will.
So you think the value of battier can be shown by raw stats? LOL keep showing you don't have a clue. You want to go back and see who Battier played with at Duke as opposed to who Smith played with? That might help you understand why his numbers where so low.
The guards MUST find him in the corner. He was open several times. Instead, they barreled blindly into the packed paint.
Let's be fair In his final college season Battier was 20ppg 2bog 2spg 7rpg and 42% from 3 He was part of the killer Bs during his time at Duke which of course impacted his stats in prior years I think Jabari will have far better NBA stats, and will also do all the small things the box score doesn't reflect (like get down the floor fast, cut well, play defence, talk, etc).
to be fair, a lot of players will look really good against the pistons when the pistons are essentially trotting out the same team as their summer league squad
The shooting wasn’t great but he has a solid feel about him and for the game. But the shooting has to get concerning at some point. That’s no most of the games we’ve seen him play. he been practicing those corner threes endlessly. Hit some my man.
