The current one because the current one pays him over 30 million more in the same time period.

Im having a hard time finding a nba contract in the history of the league for a player as talented as some believe who has no injury risk that is as non guaranteed and team friendly as this one.

You and others seem to think it’s a comical take to find it as one of the most team friendly deals ever. Cite some examples of more team friendly deals for extremely talented, non injury risk guys that would disprove the take.

Thats if he doesnt turn into a sociopathic gang banger and starts throwing up gang signs in live games THEN he'll be "out of the league in two years" .... wait we already had a beloved piru gang banger on this team so it really cant get much worse! As long as they gang bang and dont get caught I think thats the tricky part. THrowing soup or busting caps? LOL

I just gave you examples, and you chose to ignore them.

What are you talking about? The people who believe in him the most said he would get a contract in the exact range he did.

Man, you are really embarrassing yourself trying to find the negative in this.

    Why?

    What is your point?

You listed a few over 30 end of the bench vets who ended up getting what they deserved rather than the crazy overpay they should have accepted.

Im not finding the negative I’m acknowledging the reality of what happened.

And no one and I mean no one on the pro KPJ side was advocating that what he was worth was a 1 year guarantee that allows the team more time to decide on what he was worth. The talk was that he had already proven that 15-20 was not only already his proven worth but actually a bargain.

I think it very likely that Porter has this contract insured for injury meaning if the team cuts him due to an injury, he'd still collect.

If he doesn't have it insured for injury, he needs a new agent.

It's really not. The only person who would take the lesser deal is someone that has no confidence in their continued high level of play.... the kind of person looking for one final robbery as they flame out.

Shouldn't this thread had died already? Got to be pretty dumb not to know this is a win win? Based on his game and numbers, compared to other's recent deals, they're getting him at a discount. WITH huge protections. That's a bad thing?

People arguing over the details to prove they were right. Truly, how (insert word... old, insecure, stubborn, Angry or Dumb) are you? Who gives a F.

Porter agreed to a deal that most in his position would not have. Seems they were honest with him and he was honest with himself about his past and why the structured deal is needed. Imagine a lot of his decision to agree to the terms is his gratitude and love for the team. Much respect.

The structure allows him instant longterm security. A chance to continue growing, continue building on what he's already built. Plenty of motivation to keep striving to be his best both on and off the court. With all the security in the deal, how is this not a great deal? A deal we should all be pleasantly surprised with.

    This is common sense y'all.

    GR!

Exactly. This deal should feel good for ALL Rockets fans whether you believe KPJ will be a superstar or you don't trust him at all. So KPJ fanatics think they won the argument but in fact they have not. This is the deal advocated by a lot of KPJ doubter. The main thing is NO BIG MONEY LONG TERM COMMITMENT.

I am guessing what's in the pro-KPJ crowd's mind: (1) KPJ will surely earn his 80M+ money without a doubt. (2) Therefore all those "haters" who disagree were all wrong.
What they don't realize is that the only thing they were right is that the Rockets FO does see KPJ's potential. BUT, whether KPJ will reach that potential and make the big bag of money is still uncertain. The Rockets simply kick the can down the road to see if the guy will pan out.
