As a reminder, the 2022 total defense budget is close to two trillion dollars. The amount spent on Ukraine is a rounding error at best. No one is losing out on healthcare because the military sent javelins and HIMARS to Ukraine.

 

I think the argument is, if you're going to spend that money, and spend it via executive fiat, why not direct some towards those that are hurting domestically as well.

Every time anyone dares propose re-allocating defense spending for anything, they get shouted down as someone who hates the troops. Congress has consistently voted on budgets that exceeds DoD requests. And this is a bipartisan thing. The one time we tried reducing military spending in recent times (the budget sequestration bill), both sides were ready to repeal it the next day. Republicans would drown any Democrat in ads if they dared to suggest spending money on non-military priorities

So now when we're spending on clear military objectives, its bad? So now Republicans want to reduce defense spending and start spending on social welfare? This is just complete contrarian politics at its finest.

 

I just have to say this, but watching you ignorant a-holes argue over political party affiliation during a critical time like this is really disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself.
