Absolutely true. Also, I thought this thread was about Iran earlier, for where the difference is still massive but probably not to the same degree. At least women in Iran can go to school.
I see you still won't answer the question. Dance around it all you want. Typical. It discredits your sincerity. I never said anything discriminating about any religion. You are way off on a tangent now. When did I ever say I was more tolerating of one religion over another? I don't care what religion people preach as long as they don't push it down anyone else's throats, or force it on them. What I do speak out against are the evangical hypocrites. You are only a bigot when you feel superior to someone of another gender, race, or culture that is doing no harm to you personally. If that woman in a diner was yelling "Kill Americans" then I would never defend her. Never! I don't defend anyone wishing harm on others. If that woman was a woman with a heart of love and decency, I wouldn't care what religion she followed. I'm not stupid. I've seen Muslims chanting "Death to Americans" on the news. I've also seen Americans chanting "Hang Mike Pence" on the news. I've seen extremists from Iraq fly planes into the twin towers and I've seen Americans massacre school children, people at parades, and everywhere else. You see, there will always be extremists and crazies full of hate, no matter where they came me from or what God they believe in or don't believe in. Extremists, serial killers, and hate groups come in all forms. Our biggest domestic threat is actually right wing extremists. You still can't explain why you don't see the problems we still need to address in women's equality either. You dance around it like a cat on a hot tin roof. I notice you never commented on the other point when I said at least 14 countries have had women as world leaders every year for the past 10 years, and we haven't had one in 233 years. Women aren't treated with as much respect or equality in this country as some others. Period. Women also aren't treated the same as those in many other countries when it comes to maternity leave either, or equal pay. P.S. I haven't read all the other posts yet. I was just commenting back on your replies.
As to the "we haven't had a female president" thing - yes, acknowledged. Hopefully, that will change sooner rather than later. However, it's not necessarily a strong indicator of how women are treated in a society overall. Benazir Bhutto was Prime Minister of Pakistan - twice. Doesn't mean Pakistan is even remotely close to the US when it comes to women's rights.
On September 27, 2001, the FBI released photos of the 19 hijackers, along with information about many of their possible nationalities and aliases.[27] The suspected hijackers were from Saudi Arabia (15 hijackers), United Arab Emirates (two hijackers), Lebanon (one hijacker) and Egypt (one hijacker).
Regardless of where they come from, extremists are everywhere. Not all people from any of those countries have evil in their hearts. The same goes for this country. Not everyone from any race, religious group, or culture are evil. To lash out against everyone in a group is evil though. Right now our biggest domestic threat doesn't stem from Islamic extremists, gays, transgenders, or illegals crossing the border. The biggest terrorism threat in the US are right wing American extremists.
ok cool. just letting you know there was not a single Iraqi among the group. Quite an important point considering a million plus people died in that country in large part to the fear of 9/11 and the lies that were told to get there.
It's not just that point that I'm talking about. There are many reasons we rank below so many countries when it comes to gender equality. Pakistan isn't one of the countries I mentioned that women are treated more equally overall. Your world knowledge doesn't mean much when you don't understand the challenges women in America face to receive the same respect, pay, and equality as men. We as a nation are still behind others in that concept of gender and racial equality. The good ole boys club is real. The white woman born and bread on silver spoons and fine dining will always have a better chance at success over any black woman, even if the black woman is a genius and the white woman got by on daddy's riches and a private tutor.
You still shouldn't hate on America. Women here do very well. Just like with Black people (why I do not like talking about racism)=the federal government does what it can to prevent discrimination
Was he hating on America? What did I miss? We were discussing areas we need to improve where it comes to gender and racial equality. That's not hating our country. We just need to get to a better place, like so many other countries have done. We don't need to start stepping backwards in time.
Regional based. A large political movement from the right that is becoming very popular is the concept of "trad wife" and how career ambitious women are bad immoral people.
