Simple, he's super one-dimensional. He's a pass and post moves and a few deflections. So far we've seen nothing new in his game, no development really. Ergo - he's at his floor and has a long way to go to reach his ceiling (which I personally believe is All-star caliber.) On the flipside, KPJ is probably close to his ceiling right now, but he's shown obvious improvement, so has exceeded his floor already. Do you not think that's normal for a player who's played more years in the league? It's the same as EG, he's the furthest away from the floor and he's declined from his ceiling, because he's had all of his development already. I'm not sure why this is so difficult to understand tbh, but there you go.
Some of these posters have been here a year and say the most audacious crap. Pay them no mind. Their takes are trash.
Nope, just think he should get more touches. But by all means think whatever you want bud, you clearly got it all figured out.
What a pretentious fker says What he really means. Idk how the Man has the balls to call folks out for being "sengun fans" when he pretends to b one also. Man gets exposes now he's just lashing out, quite sad.
Let me introduce you to maj21 way of thinking: You want Sengun to get more touches -> You want Sengun to get all touches You have a different opinion than mine -> You don't care about the team
At this point I just really don't care about the whole "Is Sengun good enough to be our superstar" discourse. Like... he's good enough from what we saw last year to get the starting nod given what else we have for young centers on our roster which isn't saying much. As we get more high level talent like Jabari, Tari, etc. we'll see if he can keep up. Right now though... who cares? Let's see how good he is as a starter, and see if he can keep up. I wouldn't be banking the future of the franchise on the guy based on what I've seen though. If we draft in the top 5 again next year, and there's a center available... TAKE IT, and worry about Sengun later. That's my Sengun 2 cents.
Yep. Who knows if he's the center for us in the future since we are still a rebuilding team, but folks already writing him off due to a knee jerk reaction to a preseason game. Let the man have a go and see if he starting center material.
He is not super one-dimensional though. 1- He is good in the post, can both score and pass out of the post 2- He can initiate plays top of the key, pass to cutters or drive to the basket 3- Very good off ball and on ball screen setter. 4- Moves the ball well 5- Draws fouls all the time As far as development, I am quite impressed by his development, because initially I thought just like you, that he did not concentrate on his weaknesses because of the international campaign. 1- He is stronger 2- His pick and roll defense was very good last game 3- He took two 3s without hesitation, his form was good, and he looked confident. As for %, I cannot say anything because it is too early in the season. 4- He is taking shots, that he did not take before. I don't see a reason to think that he is not improving or he is not going to improve in the future. I don't think Sengun is gonna be playing with the second unit, simply because it is not good for anyone and he does not have a good replacement, worth to play him in the second unit. I don't have the time to go at length into it, so I will just wait and see how things play out.
Thanks for pointing that out, you're right. However even in that shared role Sengun would likely get less touches and less opportunity in the starting lineup compared to the bench lineup so I think my overall point still stands.
He doesn't need to get a lot of touches. He contributes on offense in so many different ways that it would be very stupid to put him into the second unit, where he would much less effective with back-up guards and he would be more used as a post-up player, which will kill his development. The theory that Sengun needs the ball all the time, is something that a few Sengun haters here try to push but not true.
So basically 5 points to say he passes well and works well in the post/inside? Using more words to say the same thing doesn't change its meaning. He's a very limited player as things currently stand. He has potential to be incredible, and I would love for him to get there here. But he;s a long, long way off yet. And he is definitely not, the best player, the player with the most potential or the new franchise player. Not right now.
Sure, if you think passing out of the post and passing to the cutters is the same skill, we disagree. Then if he develops a 3 pt it won’t be a new skill because it is still scoring. A one dimensional scorer is much less valuable than a scorer that can score in different ways. Just like that Sengun’s versatile passing is very valuable. And ignore the foul drawing and good screens and good ball movement. direct these to someone who claims it, if you can find one, not to me.
Good ball movement = passing Foul drawing = post play, it's the only place he does it. Stop being disingenuous, you don't get to reframe the same skill and pretend it makes him a more complete player - it doesn't. He's top tier in Turkey, his current skill level in the NBA barely scrapes roleplayer level. That's his current performance.
Okay. You think passing out of the post, passing to the cutter and moving the ball quickly and correctly are the same skill, I don’t. again not true. Yes, so what. You expect to have an mvp at 20 years old. Role player that can play starter minutes with unique talents at 20 is a great point to start with. You talk about him as if he is 27 and we are deciding whether he should be starting or not.
And there are people who actually think Segun is the Rockets best player? LMAO Clutchfans has some of the weirdest tendencies to cult like worship complimentary players as if they are hall of famers
Sengun should start for now, even if Bruno fits better with the starting group. Why? Because Sengun has to learn how to play with the starters or he's never going to be able to get to the next level. You have to put him in positions where he's going to be challenged and forced to learn, not just what is comfortable. He's young. This team isn't about winning. The goal is to maximize his development and potential, not his win contribution. Therefore he should start.
So you still out here with the **** takes. Jokic lite? And you had the nerve to try and clown me with Lebron 1.0 when talking about Banchero. Sabonis Lite is a bench fringe player by the way.
