Max Duggan is going to shoot up boards. Just beat the number 8 team in the country. 4.4 speed, good arm and enough size. McCall will as well. I still say find a way to get Maye the next year, that kid is special.
This sounds like B O'B and DW4 all over again. QB saving the day.[/QUOTE] They absolutely hate Bill ‘O Brien in Alabama. I think it’s safe to say that’s he just not a good offensive play caller, but his connections and his time with Tom Brady just gets him more and more chances. Every qb that’s played under him at least says that he helped them understand how to process the game better, so honestly I think he should probably be a QB coach. Head coach only if he stays away from the offense.
https://theathletic.com/3696575/2022/10/15/tracking-2023-nfl-draft-will-anderson/ Chris Burke: There were 101 points (not a typo) scored in Tennessee’s upset of Alabama, so we do need to talk about the offenses. But I actually want to start on the other side of the ball. Will Anderson Jr. entered this season as the consensus top non-QB prospect in college football. Saturday, the Vols offense mostly held him in check (three tackles, no sacks). Seven games into Anderson’s season, is he still all we thought he would be or does a day like this expose flaws? Nick Baumgardner: In terms of the full picture, we have to remember that Anderson basically saved Alabama last week in a near-loss against Texas A&M (10 pressures, five QB hits). His pressure numbers aren’t running at the same pace as last year, but he’s still making an impact. Even Saturday, Hendon Hooker’s first interception in forever came as a result of pressure created by Anderson. That said, Tennessee RT Darnell Wright (who wasn’t blocking Anderson on that pressure) did a really nice job. Also, Tennessee’s offense is incredibly difficult to defend right now. I think Anderson’s still the top defensive option on the board and probably the best overall player. To me, the bigger question is now at QB. Burke: Yeah, like I said, we had to get there. Bryce Young, playing with a banged-up shoulder, threw for 455 yards and pulled escape act after escape act in the face of pressure — no QB looks more nonchalant with pass rushers lining up to clobber him. Hooker tossed five TD passes (all of them to Jalin Hyatt, a rising ’23 draft prospect in his own right) and made a huge throw to set up the game-winning field goal. Is Young QB1 for you? Has Hooker established himself as a legit NFL option, even though he’ll be 25 years old in January? Baumgardner: I suppose it depends on what you want your offense to be. For me, Young is QB1. He sees the field better than anybody else in this class, and while C.J. Stroud’s the best overall passer, everything Young gives you on a literal play-to-play basis is just so impressive. He’s not the first quarterback to drive a Ferrari at Alabama, but I think we could argue he’s been asked to pull them out of the fire more than most Saban-era quarterbacks. And while he lost to a terrific Tennesee team Saturday night, how many times have we seen Young pull that rabbit out of the hat? He’s special, and it’s impossible to deny his ability to be creative while staying disciplined. As for Hooker, he just continues to prove it. I think he’s a legit option, I almost wonder if his being older makes him more attractive to certain teams that might be a little older in other spots on the field but are also QB-needy and want to make a run right now. Depending on the fit, I could see him surprising people. There are deficiencies in his game that Tennessee’s offense does a nice job of hiding, such as that we don’t see him tested over the middle very much. But he rarely misses. He’s not a guy we talked much about when the year started and we barely discussed him at all a year ago, but he gets better every single week. Burke: It’s tight, because Stroud is an outstanding prospect, but I think I’m with you on Young. That said, uh … are we sure Jahmyr Gibbs isn’t the most irreplaceable player on Alabama’s offense? He’s ridiculous. […]
My favorite Bryce play. He took an nfl kill shot and got back up. Being 6'5 would have not stopped him from taking on a vicious and illegal hit in today's game.
Incredible performances by both QBs yesterday. Young’s poise and ball placement is remarkable. Not sure if I have seen a worst overall team performance by Bama but Young still put them in position to win that game. Hooker is an interesting prospect but age and system is a bit of a concern.
They also close out the season with Texans, Saints, Commanders and Steelers in 4 of their last 6 games. All very winnable games with DW4 back. Bengals or Ravens are very beatable too.
I’m not worried about Bryce size at all he’s played in the SEC and completely dominated teams and has been very very durable till missing this one last game. And we all seen how he performed. One week removed from injury.
