Oh I agree. All postseason games should be in prime time with two different start times based on time zone. It's silly that MLB thinks each game needs 100% exclusivity. But I guess as someone else pointed out there is an extra reason for that earlier Monday start time due to travel. Should have just had a off day Tuesday. Who cares if the postseason is one day longer.

I will have the Stros on the big screen and the Rockets on my ipad using my xfinity stream app. I can also reduce the size of the stream display so I can post on clutchfans rockets/astros (or just hit up clutchfans on my phone). (plus - I record the Rockets game and if it’s a W, I re-watch the game on another day.... forwarding commercials, FTs, challenges, 1/2 time bs, BUT watching all cheerleaders and hot female fans in regular speed)
Just think if he doesn't break his hand that's Maton trying to get through multiple innings instead of Brown in that marathon game. Probably wouldn't have ended well.
Exactly, why people trying to force him to be a starter where he has not fared well in the playoffs. In fact the results are embarrassing. Playoff Career As a reliever 7 IP, 0 ER As a starter 15 2/3 IP, 14 ER Kind of see a pattern here?
I saw him give up two grand slams in the first two innings from 75 yards away in a post season start. That’s enough for me. That was not a fun 4 hour game.
Playoff baseball has been on TV in the middle of the day since I was a kid. I used to fake being sick so I could come home and watch it. It was a tradition.
Interesting to think of external forces that may have saved Dusty from himself in that 18 inning game (all hypothetical, of course). Does Maton make the roster if he doesn't break his hand? If so, does he get in that game? Would Will Smith have been in the game if he was on the playoff roster? My gut says if either of those pitchers gets in that game, the Mariners win. But it's all guesswork, of course. I'm just glad it's over and our guys won, regardless of how it happened.
they certainly would have been used. Hypothetically, had they come in in extras and given up a run I don’t think I would have blamed it on Dusty. Every single reliever threw in that game and it was way more unusual than not that the pen gave up zero runs over 7 innings (Garcia excluded). Even the Mariners pen was nails until they got to the last guy in their pen. Hard to extrapolate negatives on Dusty’s part out of that game. The national coverage rightly put a lot of blame on the hitters. Altuve had some of the worst AB’s I’ve seen in a long run time…. 8 times.
Garcia pitching 5 innings of sudden death baseball, absolutely outstanding. Just an incredible performance.
The entire staff was great I think the Astros have an interesting off season coming with the pitching. I still fully expect Vetrander to come back. That will leave the Astros with too much starting pitching. They say you can never have too much pitching but I think there is a limit. The Astros would have JV, Framber, McCullers, Javier, Garcia, Brown, and Urquidy. I really think 6 starters at the major league level is the most the team can use before diminishing returns set in. I also fully expect Murray to be where Brown was this year and HOPE that Whitley is. So next option: can/should one of the 7 be moved to the bullpen? Brown could be for a season but that would really be a disservice to him and waste of his talent. The others have established themselves as starters. As a general rule an established starter is much more valuable than a bullpen arm so moving one would be a big waste of value. In addition it's just a band aid with potentially the same issue in 2024 with Murray or someone else. Also if JV resigns the budget will be tight due to all the arbitration raises. That means the best way to fill the hole at 1B may be to trade for a young controllable guy like Hoskins or Walker.
