Am I reading this page right. Excuse for Young is that Hooker has more weapons? Is this real life? Smh. Young played well. Hooker played better against a better defense. Tennessee was the 100th ranked defense in the country by the way while leading the nation in total offense.

Like we remind you time and time again. Evaluations are more nuanced than this. It doesn’t matter what the ranks are. Everyone with eyes to see saw the same receiver blowing by Alabama’s safeties over and over again while Hooker could stand in the pocket unbothered. They both played well, but to say that Alabama’s defense played any better than Tennessee’s is disingenuous. If Tennessee’s defense is as bad as you say it is, that means Alabama’s receivers are truly terrible this year because they weren’t getting open.

I don't think it was a matter of the defenses, it's just that both offenses AND the QBs were astounding on yesterday. It was a great offensive showing by both teams. It could've went either way.

With that being said, I still do not know why people are discrediting Hooker. Is it his age? The team? I just can not figure it out.

People were saying he benefited from good O-line play, he had better weapons, his WRs were wide open, every excuse there were.

I saw him throw through tight windows, I saw him throw deep with accuracy and he ran when needed. He had a very good game!

Those aren’t excuses, they’re facts. He had a great game, but that doesn’t mean we should ignore that there was little pressure coming from Alabama’s line and #11 was wide open on all 5 of his TDs from Hooker. These aren’t faults. Tennesse has a great offensive scheme and he executes it very well. It’s as college spread as you can get with few throws over the middle so Hooker requires a bit more projection, but he’s a good prospect. I personally wish he were younger, the same way I wish Bryce was bigger. There are no perfect qb prospects this year just like most years and that’s fine.

Now maybe people will understand why waiting is the best option.

Well if they do wait I hope they have another plan at qb next season.

He’s more athletically gifted than Bryce Young, but Young has better field awareness, goes through reads better, has full command of his offense. I think they both have an “it” factor, but obviously if Caleb catches up with Bryce mentally by next year, he’s an overall better prospect. Just no guarantee you’ll be in position to get him.

I like Hooker as much as the top 3. Huepel runs a gimmick offense. But Hooker has skills. I haven't seen him throw across the middle yet. But I like him.

I never agree with waiting, because you never know what tomorrow will bring. You play the hand you're dealt. The Texans NEED a QB!

What if Williams, Maye or Ewers is not available when the Texans pick next yr? What if they aren't as successful in the NFL as they were in college? There are so many "What IFs".

Things change quickly, you can not expect things to stay as is. However, if the opportunity presents itself you can always draft another QB, similar to what Arizona did with Murray. They drafted QBs in back to back yrs.

I think he's on par with Young right now. But he should be able to hold up to the riggers of the NFL better than Young. If Young was bigger that's who I would want. Young definitely has the intangibles

You take your best guess and I'm guessing the 2024 class is the much better class. The Texans have the ammo to trade up if needed.

You don't want to go through the growing pains of a rebuild. But regardless of whether Caserio picks a QB or not next year there will be growing pains. I want the guy who can lead this team to championships and that guy isn't in this draft for different reasons
    IMHO

    A bridge QB like Minshew/Foles/Jimmy G/Rush is a guy I would sign to a 3 year deal.

If those are the options I would rather ride with Mills on a rookie contract.

Let me ask you this, is Matthew Stafford a top 10 QB? Or Jalen Hurts?

Not willing to wait one .ore year to get a true franchise QB.

We will never agree on what a franchise QB looks like. You're willing to settle for what you can get. I want better than settling. Your attitude is why the Texans have sucked for over 2 decades.

    Which I'm fine with

If it means I'm not settling at the QB position because they need a QB, then I'm on board with running with Mills for another year. I do think a vet QB should be brought in to compete with Mills. Maybe Allen is that guy

    Hurts yes

Stafford no, because his ol sucks and he's got a bad throwing elbow.
