Well crap....I fell asleep and missed the Dodgers meltdown. It must have been beautiful. If only Musgrove hadn't talk s#it about the Astros, then do his best Gaylord Perry impersonation, I'd be more excited for the Padres. So, screw'em. Astros vs Phillies in WS. 'Stros finally avenge the 1980 NLCS.
My highlight is watching Jeremy Pena bust his tail out of the box to make sure he at least gets into scoring position if the ball comes up short. I find that much more exhilarating than some bat flip and grandstanding.
I went to bed and the Dodgers were up 2-0 with the bases loaded and no outs in the 7th. I wake up, and they lose 5-3. One of the best "woke up to a surprising sports outcome" I can recall in recent memory.
Taking a step back, but what a crazy day in baseball. The two NL favorites get knocked out in four before reaching the ALCS. Epic Cleveland comeback in the 9th to walk it off. The Dodgers collapse. Astros win an 18-inning slogfest 1-0. Like it's nuts to me all of those things happened in one day of playoff baseball.
I definitely appreciate the hustle out of the box, but I sure hope this isn't some poorly veiled slight at Yordan Alvarez. That would be a criminal take.
Look at the score scroll at the bottom of the screen. This wasn't from yesterday's game but still appropriate.
Not at all. I was actually thinking about Pena earlier in the year when he watched a ball that hit off the top of the wall and he only made it to 1B when he could easily have reached 2B. He said he will NEVER do that again. He didn't. Alvarez hustles when it isn't a no doubter. He occasionally gets burned by being held to singles because he hits it so darned hard.
