But I wasn't the GM for the Texans so all of those prior 11 teams whiffed, i mean you had Trubisky being drafted i think before Watson / Mahomes, i said all those teams who passed on Watson were dumb, he just had that It factor and it showed in those title games against what was basically the best team/defense with future NFL players on them so to me he was sure fire, not what the media hype train proclaim of course no one can predict what a QB will be in the pros, just like nobody knows where you may end up picking in the draft, or predicting how you won't be able to get Ewers / Williams, how do you know that to be true? In a redraft Watson would easily go top 3 and top 5 at worst
Want to strengthen the defense and O-line as well as grab a developmental QB in rounds 1-4 and then add height/weight/speed guys in 5-7 for special teams. 1 - Anderson or Young 1 - Murphy or Levis or trade back for extra draft capital and select Cameron Ward to groom a season behind Mills 2 - Jordan Battle 3 - Cooper Beebe or Layden Robinson 3 - Dawand Jones or Carter Warren 4 - Mazi Smith or Siaki Ika
You're probably right about Smith. I would look at Devin Bush or Myles Jack. If they go 6-11 or say 8-9 that would put them around pick 12. You probably would have to give up both 2024 1sts and a 2025 1st and to move up to say #5 to get your franchise QB. I would rather do this than pick a QB from the 2023 QB class. Because I think all 3 of the 2024 QB's are possible top 5 in the NFL type talents. Of course I love Ewers arm talent and poise. Nothing seems to phase him. Maybe you dont even have to move up to #3 because there are 3 QB's I like, maybe you only have to move up to say #6 to draft one of these guys and of course the Texans could end up with a higher pick than #12 draft pick, which is the most likely scenario.
I'm on board with drafting Gilbert in the 3rd or 4th. That guy is possibly the most talented TE in this deep TE draft.
The 3 that have stood out to me are the guy from USC, the guy from TCU and the guy from Iowa State. I admittedly have not watched Ohio State since the ND game, and I'm sure there's others. Don't want to misspell their names and I'm not bothering to look them up. eta: I've mentioned him before, but if Whittington stays healthy (and if he comes out this year), he's going to be a very, very good slot receiver.
You sure he's not just a spread system QB...Heupel...Stoops...Leach...etc... I watched the 2nd half but honestly didn't pay that much attention to him as a passer
Stands tall in the pocket. Has mobility. 6’4” 218lbs. Every QB is a system QB until their not. He just threw for more than 350 yards and 5 TDs against Alabama. Sound familiar? Yes, he will be 25 on draft day. So, he may go 2-3rd round because of that. We will see what scouts say. Bryce Young has that Alabama Oline and seem to have all the time in the World. Hooker made good decisions facing that Bama pass rush.
Hendon Hooker had even more time in the pocket and his receivers, especially number 11 were running wide open. Almost every Tennessee score was a big play because Alabama’s defense was atrocious. At least try to be objective. They both had great time in the pocket. The biggest difference is that Hooker had wide open receivers to throw to. I think Hendon is a good prospect, but considering that he’s already 24 or 25, I wouldn’t take him in the 1st round.
