Well the Suarez/Hader combination continues to dominate. 13 scoreless by the Padres bullpen in this series and 17 straight overall. That's a recipe for getting deep into the playoffs. Looks like the Hader trade is paying off after all.
I'm not afraid of the Padres. We are winning against the back end of the Mariners bullpen, we would fare similarly against the Fathers. Their hitting lineup is feeble.
If the Dodgers bow out here, then Dusty Baker will likely jump him to 4th all time in playoff wins. Roberts 45 Bochy 44 Leland 44 Baker 42 Francona 42
It's almost as if winning playoff series is not easy in baseball. No series is a guarantee in this sport, even if you pitted the worst team in baseball against the best.
Man, I fully expect the Dodgers and Braves to at least force a game 5. Hell, I still think both win their series, but we’ve seen this story before. I’m just not going to go down that road of rooting for NL teams anymore. An upstart like Phillies or SD, that makes the WS would be a major problem if we are able to get back there as well.
No way either the Braves or Dodgers lose a game 5 at home. So if the Phillies and the Padres want to advance, this is their game. If I was the manager for the Padres and Phillies, I’d go all in for game 4. And if they lose, they’d at least have a punched chance going back on the road for one more game.
Yankees get McKenzie away tonight. Pretty terrifying thought if you are a Yankee fan. Guy has been largely unhittable at times.
Yeah the Cinderella Nats and Braves was not a good result. How do the Pads and Phillies pitching stack up to those teams?
Comparably, since either would be cinderella, especially the Phillies. The Padres have the talent. Maybe as much as anyone.
It’s in the best interest of the Astros for Judge to do well and the Yankees to overpay for him. Not resigning him after his best season is the right move.
