Wonder if I would rather face a Yankees team with Judge struggling, or a Indians team with no offense but playing with no pressure as the underdogs. I'm almost leaning towards Yankees. They don't scare me and literally all you need to do is pitch around Judge (assuming he's not struggling)
Similar to Tuve not starting off well, Judge won't be like this for long either. eventually the law of averages comes into play. both damn good players so their time is coming The bottom half of the yankees lineup doesn't scare me at all though. i think reports are saying DJ could be back for the ALCS who they need
Some terrible defense by the Donaldson and Bader this inning. Ramirez is a superstar and still busted it out of the box on a popup, read the play at 2nd, knew he'd be safe without sliding, and that was what put him on 3B. That was great baserunning.
You've got to think the sun got to him. First he took a step in, then he ran straight to his left, then realized that, yeah, this ball's about 20 feet over my head.
But let me guess when Montero was pitching you were calmly eating a PB&J sandwich and checking your stock portfolio.
Yes they are lacking another clutch hitter or 2 other than Ramirez. It's going to ultimately be their downfall. But they have the starters and a great back end of the bullpen to maybe go the KC route of 2015. I can't believe the youth of this team. I checked everyone that made this playoff roster, and only Ramirez and their starting catcher are 30 yrs old. The rest are between 22-27 years old. Never seen the likes of it.
Running Montero out there in the 8th after he was really lucky and really shaky in the 6th inning. He should have probably given up the lead in the 7th but again lucked out (and most here think the ump did him a huge favor to end the inning). I think it was a really bad decision that almost cost us and were really lucky it didn't. And for anyone who is so short-sighted and says "well it worked didn't it?!" That's about an immature response as you can find. It's ok to question stuff EVEN if it works. Questioning bringing in Pressly in the 9th is actually fair game because he hadn't pitched in so long and it showed. That was NOT a good inning by Pressly. But then who could you argue to bring in? Stanek would have been in the same boat. Hindsight is 20-20 but Pressly should have been in game 1 to get the rust out. All your principle relievers needed to pitch in game 1 after JV was lifted. And we only got Abreu and Montero in that game.
I just realized I answered the wrong question. I think if you asked five different pitchers for their slider grip, you might five different answers. Curves, sliders and cutters are usually gripped with two fingers on one seam. For a 12-6 curveball, your knuckles at pointing at the catcher at 12:00 at the release point. Your intent is a full-on top spin. A 12-6 curveball has mostly vertical movement. For a slider, it is a curve with a release point is closer to 2:00 at the release point, which gives the pitch some side spin and horizontal movement, arm side to glove side like a cutter. Sliders have a top spin like the curve, so also have a pronounced vertical drop. Cutters have a side spin and a back spin. Generally you can throw fastballs/cutter faster than curves/sliders. But there are MLB freaks of nature who can throw sliders low to mid 90s. JR Richards had a wicked low 90s slider that was unhittable. Hunter Brown clock a mid 90s slider this year as well.
yeah that’s what I was wondering - I was confused - the way they’re worded it as if they were suspicious some? Whatever
Rodriguez is going to be one of those players that terrorizes the Astros for a decade, but is still somehow impossible to hate, isn't he?
I have zero clue why anyone would want to poke the bear. Altuve is the last guy other teams want to see get going on the Astros right now.
