Which is very odd because Pressly has been anywhere from good to very good to elite in his entire career. Conversely Montero and Stanek have been middling to poor pitchers for much of their career before this season. And yet you fret over Pressly by far the most. Yesterday Montero looked like the pre-2022 version of himself and we are fortunate he didn't collapse/implode. If I'm Seattle I'm wondering how the hell we didn't put up a crooked number on this guy in either or even both of those innings he pitched in.
I know you bring more to this forum than most. I respect how you relay information in general. But two things...we know you are friends with Goldstein...so the hilarity of fangraphics was not lost on me...but the definitive nature that you are using to describe how Servais decided to direct Ray is as if you Pierpont is unusual. You've been consistent about Alvarez's brilliance from day one and everyone can read the heat map. I really don't get why knowing all that you can't see how dumb the second pitch was.
Amazing Dusty got away with so many questionable decisions yesterday, He's got a rabbits foot going this time. Could have been disastrous but it worked out so kudos.
It’s going well when the main complaint is Altuve not getting a hit for a whole 2 games. How dare he.
Isn't every decision questionable? What are you basing your questions about his decisions on? Whatever you think he should have done could have been disastrous as well. Why do you need to continue your b****ing about dusty after every game, can't you just enjoy the wins? Did dusty touch you inappropriately or something or do you just like to b**** about everything?
Pressly makes me nervous too. Didn’t he walk a guy and give up a double? Wasn’t he saved by a line shot between those 2 things, right at someone for the double play? So thats a walk and 2 other pitches that got barreled up. Pressly is a good closer but he does get sloppy sometimes. He makes me nervous.
And the final strike out was a ball in the dirt. I think every player is hyped up in the playoffs. Sometimes the nerves works against them.
I looked at win probability % by player. So far I have only figured in hitting and pitching. I have not decided the best way to incorporate baserunning or fielding since there is a set value for each team for each play and adding them would require reducing the hitting ( baserunning) or pitching ( fielding) percentages for those players. Game 1: Yordan +106 Yuli +7 Hensley +6 Abreu +4 Bregman +3 Montero +2 McCormick +1 Brown 0 Vazquez -1 Javier -3 Diaz -3 Maldy -4 Pena -5 Tucker -6 Altuve -10 Mancini -11 Verlander -47 Game 2 Yordan +31 Montero +16 Neris +8 Pressly +7 Pena +7 Abreu +4 Tucker +4 Bregman 0 Diaz -1 Framber -2 Hensley -3 Meyers -4 Yuli -5 Maldy -6 Altuve -7 Any suggestions about fielding and baserunning? For example I would give Altuve credit and not the pitcher for the great infield plays, Alvarez not the pitcher credit for throwing the runner out at home, Yuli credit for the line drive DP not Pressly, etc. But should it be a percentage instead of full credit?
That's fair. I knew it wasn't a 4 seamer, figured it was a sinker. For what it's worth ESPN play by play had them as sinkers. The location was the problem more so than the pitch type. Doubling down after the first pitch made it even more unbelievable.
Like he hasn’t done that several times in the regular season. What has me convinced this team can win it all is that game 1 comeback. Didn’t see that much during the regular season. Seeing Altuve go 0 for 8. That’s not a shock.
What in the world did Dusty do yesterday that could be considered "questionable?" - Taking out Framber after he loaded the bases? - Using his normal bullpen guys in their normal spots? - Using his closer in the 9th inning?
Of the ten seasons with 3 or more 100-win teams, five of them have been in the last five consecutive full seasons. It isn't that the Guardians don't belong, there just are way too many f@#$ing great teams right now.
