Had the FBI not tried to collect the corroborating evidence from Steele then the reality is it would have been a reality that the FBI would have needed to move mountains to get substantial investigation assets on this in a timely manner. The million dollars to get corroborating evidence is a drop in the bucket to what the FBI would have needed to garnish to do what needed to clear Trump. Getting worked up about the FBI corroborating intelligence with evidence in the fastest and most cost effective way just tells us all that you are something grasping at straws for anything to get angry about. Truly pathetic
It's also important to put the Steele Dossier in context. At the time it became a thing, the FBI was looking a pool of Russian connected associated hovering around Trump. Other than the pee tape not aligning with Trump's alleged germ stuff, it's not outlandish at all to think he was a Russian agent. Wasn't the underlying premise of the Steele Dossier that Trump's dealings with Russia were largely centered around his attempts to build Trump Moscow and that is how he ultimately became compromised? A project that he then denied over and over and the FBI came to discover he was lying? His campaign manager was connected to Putin His foreign policy expert was connected to Putin An early "advisor" he listed in Papapdapolous had told a foreign diplomat that they were connected to Putin He was lying about his own connections to Russia Why would the FBI be so interested in finding out if there was anything to this Dossier?
I was about to be upset with Garland for letting this charade continue but it letting Durham clown himself seems like it maybe was the best option after all. @basso
Opinion piece submitted acclaimed author of book: "How Trump Haters are breaking America". Can't wait to read these new explosive allegations. Edit - update this is the same buzzword laden nonsense story already written 100 times. It's bunk.
The FBI should never be in the business of paying $1 million to “prove” claims in the first place. I’m not against the FBI just stuff like that and the culture they have over the last 10 years that contributed to corrupt FBI lawyers and unprofessional agents…if no Durham, they would have kept jobs The FBI commenced its ugly path on July 31, 2016, when it opened its Crossfire Hurricane investigation into whether Mr. Trump’s campaign was colluding with Russia—based on uninformed hearsay from a low-level aide named George Papadopoulos. It also began receiving reports from British former spy Christopher Steele—a “dossier” containing allegations so surreal as to defy logic. The FBI rushed to meet with Mr. Steele in early October 2016. It had undertaken no due diligence on its source and had been unable to verify a single dossier claim (and never would). At that meeting it nonetheless took the astonishing step of offering Mr. Steele “up to $1 million” in taxpayer dollars to legitimize his own information. (Usually, the FBI pays another party to verify a source report.) they really ought to make a movie on this tbh , it’s unbelievable
Nothing about this is unbelievable or controversial in the slightest. It is absolutely 100% the job of the FBI to prove "claims". That is literally their job. That's what investigation is....That is what a so called federal bureau of investigation would do. You snowflakes cried and whined about the "unverified" Steele Dossier, and now are whining and crying that the FBI tried to verify the Dossier. Your position is beyond idiotic, its flat out embarrassing.
These are two very important parts of that article: “The Russia probe has been a major focus of Durham’s work, and he previously criticized how it was opened. But he hasn’t brought any charges alleging bias or misconduct in the opening of Crossfire Hurricane. … The stakes are high for Durham, who has taken on an unprecedented role in this trial by personally handling most arguments and questioning so far. His inquiry is winding down after more than three years, and he has only secured one guilty plea from an FBI lawyer that resulted in zero jail time. His only other case, against a Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer, ended with a swift jury acquittal in May.“ One of the frequently brought up arguments is that the FBI and DoJ are hopelessly biased against Trump but given how long Durham has investigated he has produced very little.
From the article cited very few people in the FBI actually lost their job and Durham could only secure one conviction. He lost another case and appears to be losing the latest one. Most telling is that Durham himself has not charged bias with the opening of Crossfire Hurricane.
Haha you are so full of it “beyond idiotic” well you know what they say about opinions It had undertaken no due diligence on its source and had been unable to verify a single dossier claim (and never would) And yet STILL directly paid one million dollars to attempt to prove something with zero due diligence and unverified everything. That is embarrassing thing . I don’t care what you say. Your words mean as much as your eventual demise
As a result a handful lost their jobs…again based on unprofessional conduct detrimental to standards or in one clear case of illegal acts , we wouldn’t know a lot of things and I’m glad we know. I’m glad several agents stepped down or were fired
I would be fine with the FBI trend to prove claims but here’s the difference as,shole…you had no due diligence and no verified anything at all plus the FBI usually pays another source to verify a source so there is corroboration. …at least verify something before connecting dots F. off KMA and hope YDS Ps not directed at any of you fine people here just the segment of society that thinks r****ded that the FBI should just pay millions of dollars to prove imaginary unverified information…by this logic should the FBI go around sending millions of dollars to prove imaginary stories to anyone?
Just so you know. The FBI was largely pro-Trump. https://news.yahoo.com/fbi-probed-jan-6-many-090154385.html "I literally had to explain to an agent" the difference between Black Lives Matter police protests and the insurrection, email warns.
As I've said before I don't mind oversight of the FBI and from what I've seen Durham did a professional job. A handful, and not Strozk and Page's resignation weren't tied to Durham's investiagion, out of an agency that has thousands is pretty good. Any large institution, corporation, university, etc.. if you look will likely have some people that behave unprofessionally. That is why HR departments exist.
That doesn't change anything that was posted. That was still only one conviction arising from Durham's year long investigation.
