I think that it may be becoming more clear to the top Russian "Thought Leaders" that the Ukraine War is not going to end well.
"Documents obtained by CNN show that last month Musk’s SpaceX sent a letter to the Pentagon saying it can no longer continue to fund the Starlink service as it has." Last month is before Musk voiced his war diplomacy "peace plan" on Twitter last week. Besides that, twitter war diplomacy is pretty nutz. It's pretty crazy to see the Ukraine government needing to take Musk's opinion on twitter seriously.
Spacelink hasn't been giving away their services for free - that's just a marketing gimmick that you fell for because you gobble up anything Musk says. Something like 80% of the terminals have been paid for, though Spacelink was donating much of the actual monthly service, which was great on his part. As is his normal self, he didn't like being told to f* off for injecting himself things he knew nothing about, so he threw a tantrum and he is threatening to take his toys and go home. Better than calling Zelenskyy a pedophile like he did when the Philippine guy told him to f* off. Again, SpaceX shouldn't be required to fund the Ukraine war, so it's his right to ask for funding to continue the service. The US will likely do it. It doesn't make him greedy or evil. He's done nothing wrong here except again show that he's still a whiny little baby and that he's no hero to Ukraine - he was just using them as a marketing tactic for his business. When it's no longer convenient, he's happy to let them die or be subjugated.
A friend of mine is high up at Tesla - said that the Ukranians as they advance were losing Starlink, because they were getting close to Russia where it is blocked and for Space X to get more precise they will need to do some extra work - which is why Musk is asking for $$$ and he is right to do so. DD
This is misleading. During the Cold War, hot wars raged between proxies all the time. American and other western allies continually engaged allies of the Soviets, sent weapons to their enemies, etc.
You seem to have missed a fundamental part of MAD - you know, the "mutual" part. It does not mean one side threatens to use nukes and the other backs down. If anything, it means that if one side threatens to use nukes, the other is supposed to threaten to do so back, thus creating the MAD scenario that discourages the first party from acting.
Russian government put out a procurement request for bids to repair the Kirch Bridge. Estimated completion deadline of July 1, 2023.
I thought Russia has launched missiles and amphibious assaults on Odessa and other Ukrainian port cities. That’s why the sinking of the Moskva was so critical.
