The Metaverse is being built for the NEAR FUTURE generations that wont be able to afford anything in REAL LIFE. They wont be able to afford steak, watches, Jordans or Porsche much less a HOUSE or LAND. The Metaverse will be their opiate.

    GOOD LUCK.

They are trying to create a Neal Stephenson Snow Crash VR world when what people want is a Vernor Vinge Rainbow's End AR/VR world which is still at least a decade away.

Boomers were kind enough to vote away estate taxes so their avocado toast eating spawn can inherit whatever's left.

Some youngin better nix that cancer vaccine if they know what's good for them.

That's just to give a false hope. Gets them off. They'll choose to be buried in their houses in the end, when they finally die at the age of 187.

I'm a project manager by trade. I work with developers. Daily scrums are the most quiet meetings you will ever attend. I'm also an entrepreneur and I know marketing is vital for survival.

Yes, my minor was in bidnez.

It used to blow my mind that there was even a need for a PM. Then I became one and saw how clueless, disorganized and uncommunicative most people actually are.

EV doesn't need the why. When manufacturers don't make gasoline cars, consumers will have no choice.

It needed a why 20 years ago and it still needs a why now. You wouldn't understand the need if you hadn't been informed by marketing.

    Sometimes, yes.

However, we're a hell of a long way away from marketing being the metaverse's biggest stumbling block.

I have nothing against good PMs, to be honest. They're awesome. I just haven't worked in many companies where when the sales/marketing side of the company started driving development, things turned out well. lol. Too much of sales seemed like bs'ery and con-men generally trying to make a buck at all costs regardless of the customer or the company. Maybe I have a problem distinguishing between marketing and sales. Marketing just seemed like a bunch of gobbledygook made to look pretty or convincing that most people could see through. Not all, but a large majority seemed like that.

I see and agree with you. 90% of salespeople are scumbags. Marketing is always biased.

Don't be naïve enough to think that most people see through anything. Look at our political system.

Oh, you're right about that. I shouldn't have said "most people". If that were true, I doubt we'd have so much focus on marketing and sales.

    This is legit true.

Even when the affordability, tech/feature, and usability issues are resolved... the real moment for VR/AR won't come until life is such a hellscape that most people won't want to even be in the real world.
