I did not take it that way. I took it as "all hands on deck" Framber will be available if needed in relief. I think he would have pitched Javier more than 5 batters and 21 pitches yesterday if he wasn't planning on starting him. I think that was just to get the rust off so he is 100% ready to start game #4 or regular 4 days rest. Then I think JV goes on 5 days rest in game #5 if needed with Framber available if he has another clunker. If no game 5 is needed then JV is ready for ALCS game #1
That's right.. But, I'm still not throwing fastballs for strikes to Yordan in that situation. While it might be extremely unconventional, he warrants it. No way I'm challenging him. You might start the at bat, but...
I understand the notion of having to win this series before moving on to the next... but no way do I see JV and Framber in the same game. Javier would be the guy if JV started and Framber would be the Game #1 starter for the ALCS
I totally agree. I was surprised he even threw him that first strike, but to throw the second middle/middle was just egotistical. Servais - "Ray! You're up" Ray - "How do you want me to pitch to him?" Servais - "Throw him anything but fastballs over the middle" Ray ; "Got it! I won't let you down" *2 pitches later.....*
This is what was crazy. He just missed on your first pitch and got a piece. So his timing was not off by a lot. Then you give him a meatball. lol
He had to makes a business decision for himself, but you know he’s itching to still be a part of this.
Great point about them not pitching the same game But I still did not take Dusty's comments as meaning Framber starts game #5 on short rest. But maybe they are planning on starting JV on regular rest in game #4. I would start Javier and give JV 1 extra day, but maybe they think his problem yesterday was from too long of a layoff. If he does not start game #4 and the Astros win the series w/o needing game #5 it will be another long layoff before ALCS game #1 = 7 days If he starts either game, he won't be available in the ALCS until game #3 and only able to make 1 start. except short rest which they have avoided all year ( even limited regular rest) I would hope he's not needed again in the ALDS so he can start games 1 and 5 in the ALCS.
Suprised no one has mentioned this... Yordan's Home Run only ties the game if he didn't throw a laser to gun out the runner earlier in the game.
This changes nothing Rockets are still a more worthwhile franchise in a better sport. If you’re just as interested in Astros as you are in a Rockets then you can have the Astros - I love em but Rockets are no 1
I suspect no one is starting on short rest for the Astros this postseason - they just have too many good starters. If the Astros are up 2-1, I would think it would they go Javier in game 4 and JV in game 5 if needed. If the Astros are down 2-1, I suspect its JV on regular rest and then Javier in game 5. Both scenarios position JV to pitch as early as realistic in the ALCS if they make it there. Framber is purely an emergency situation, I'd guess (like extra innings, etc). It doesn't help that he bombed his last two starts in the regular season too - there's no reason to go 5 games and never start Javier.
"Yo! Guess he's not accustomed to sitting at home watching the game from the sofa like the rest of us? Is he missing something?"
I love the expression on the cops face at the end of that second vid.. just liked “holy **** I can’t believe that just happened…. ok now back to making sure none of the fans jump over the wall”
Astros 2 wins away from becoming the first team ever to appear in their league championship series in 6 straight years.
I would have bought a ticket just for that one at-bat to experience that in person. That is a very memorable and rare moment. Definitely a top 5 moment in Astros history.
