Sewald wouldn't have even got one strike on Alvarez before Alvarez sent it out of the park. With Ray, there was at least a chance he hit Alvarez and Bregman with pitches to put the game in Tucker's hands.
And yes, this is hyperbole. Alvarez is the reason for the homer. Sewald is more responsible for the homer than Ray as he let Alvarez get to the plate. Giving up homers to Alvarez is not some uncommon occurrence.
Coaches do not hire and fire players. All they get is input. They play or bench the players they get. That is unless the coach is wearing two hats.
