Well, we dropped from #1 to #6 with our win, but CLE is setting at #8, so having two Top 10 picks would be nice. Still lots of games, but thought we should keep track... https://www.tankathon.com/nfl

How many wins do yall think is too many for a chance at the number one pick this year? There might be a handful of winnable games left.

Currently 5 other teams with 1 win in the standings.

Teams with the top 5 picks last year had 3-4 wins.

Being that we have that tie, 2 wins takes us out the top 2

The ONLY reason I care about the NFL is I enjoy playing the Trade Game.

It is sad that a game I loved since before the first Superbowl was played has become unwatchable and unenjoyable.

Turn out the lights, the party's over...

    I get this.

You can't even tackle the QB anymore.

You understand. The game is not played, it is flagged.

Easier to rig and Goodell has now gotten in bed with the gamblers.

I really pretty much only watch the Texans and college ball these days.

Probably a knee jerk reaction but wondering if Edge player’s value will go down with how drastic things have changed the past week. There is no telling what roughing the passer is anymore.

Getting back on topic. With 5 top 100 picks, maybe 6 do you spend 4 or 5 on skill position players?

    Thank you!

Caserio/Scouts have done a great job of letting the draft come to them and making moves when they had a target. With that premise, we need skill players, but we also need long-term talent to develop at spots like TE, C, DL, and LB. I'd like to see each of those areas addressed in rounds 1-4. With QB, WR and RB as "skilled" areas I'd like to see addressed as well. I'd let the talent available at those positions drive the priority of our selections. My 2 cents.

It's a fairly deep skil position draft. Very strong at TE and RB. After the 1st five or 6 the wr position things out pretty quickly.

On the defensive side of the ball, it's deep at the edge and S positions and avg at the CB position. It's weak at the LB position and lacking depth at the DT position.

With this in mind, if I'm Caserio and I'm picking say 4th, I'm targeting Jalen Anderson at 5 and the best edge or Johnston at say 15. How would you feel about a draft that looked something like this because I could see the draft falling to Caserio like this.

    1. Jalen Anderson
    1. Johnston
    2. Drew Sanders edge Arkansas
    3. Aric Gilbert TE Georgia
    3. Zac Charbonnet. RB UCLA.
Trade into the 3rd Ricky Stromberg C Arkansas

That would give you 6 top 100 players in this draft and all are difference makers. IMHO

I would spend top money in FA on the LB position because I don't like this LB class.

    Jalen Carter you mean??

Not drafting a RB in 3rd unless it’s for Gibbs who ain’t making it that far.

Not drafting a TE unless it’s Michael Mayer in the first or Darnell Washington later rounds.

    Yes Carter, brain fart

Washington will probably go late 1st- early 2nd.

Who do you want in the 3rd? There's great value at the TE position in the 3rd. Gilbert,Stover, LaPorta and Kinkaid probably will all be there at the top of the 3rd. There's also value at the RB position Charbonnet, Achane, Evans could all be there in the 3rd.

Worse yet, imagine not wanting Bryce Young, CJ Stroud or Will Levis. Have you seen Davis Mills?

Can you imagine being stuck in mediocrity because you reached for a QB. Why yes I can imagine that. The Texans have done that since the 1st pick in franchise history.

Even if you don't want Mills, you can sign a bridge vet to a 2-3 year deal and draft better QBs in 2024.

Not sure I follow. The only times the Texans brought themselves out of mediocrity was by paying a pretty penny for Schaub and trading up DW4. Both were a bit risky but panned out for the most part. Osweiler was a bust but other than that, it's been all mid round picks and journeymen.

But assuming we are picking in the Top 3 and Anderson is off the board, who would you rather draft other than the QBs? Take trading back out of the equation for kicks.

Carr,Os,, Watson were all busts for different reasons and why this franchise has never won anything.

Jalen Carter and signing Roquan Smith in FA would solve the stopping the run issues. Just gotta make the investment. Best DT in the last 3 drafts and Smith would greatly improve the run defense..
