It's called pick your poison. Is Yordan with two on more likely to score 3 or Bregman with the bases loaded where a double walks it off?

Normally, I might walk Alvarez, Bregman and Tucker and face Gurriel with a 1 run lead. But he was having a good day. (broken clock syndrome)

ps I hope Gurriel is actually finally FIXED. I hope Mancini gets fixed. But Vasquez reaching did not go unnoticed either.

ps Why hasn't Baseball reference taken pitchers off the hitters lists yet? The ONLY hitting pitcher is actually a DH and does not need to be listed as a pitcher anyway. They already have a method of including position players who mop up without including all hitters as pitchers.

imploding in the postseason is massively different then playing in the regular season. you're not allowed several mistakes at this time. you're lucky if you can pitch after 1 or 2. and being in the 9th well you're going to be yanked after what they did.

we know mlb playoffs is crazy, it could have easily gone the other way and yordan grounded out etc. like i said it is what it is. I'm enjoying it as much as anyone but stros forcing seattle into what they did is what postseason mlb is all about.

He got a groundout, hit someone in a 8 or 9 pitch AB, struck out our 2nd best hitter, and then gave up a single. That isn't exactly falling apart.

it sure is. like i said in the postseason thats literally going to get you yanked. you don't watch enough postseason baseball if you think pitchers don't get yanked after things like that. it's even worse when you're in the last inning.

In the vein of not ignoring in victory, what you would not in defeat- what is with JV? 4 of his last 6 playoff starts, he's given up 4 runs or more! This is concerning!!!

I get the feeling that JV is about to go on a crazy good run through the playoffs. Nothing to go on except a gut feeling. It is not reasonable based on recent playoff performances. I also think he will not need to pitch again until the ALCS.

I also think Dusty will go with Urquidy in Game 4 if necessary.

It's actually the first postseason "walk off HR when trailing by multiple runs with 2 outs in the 9th"...but everybody seems to leave off the "with 2 outs in the 9th" qualifier

I said it before the series started.

The Mariners needed to keep Ray off the Roster.

The fact that Servais and the brass had a meeting prior to the game and decided this was the move they WANTED if this situation came up tells you exactly why Seattle isn't ready and why the Astros are among the best organizations in baseball year after year.

I can completely see Dusty putting Will Smith in to face a dangerous left handed hitter in that spot.

However he would have been given stacks of reasons and data to prove why its a bad idea.

And then Click will just leave Smith off the Roster because he is a smart man and knows Dusty.

I could watch Yordan's victory home run a hundred times. I love that guy. We get to watch him for years to come! 2028 is a long way away. We've got a lot more of those moments coming. It's gonna be awesome!

Ray had given up the second most home runs in the American League this year, has a history of giving up home runs at a torrid pace, and had pitched very poorly against the Astros this year the likes you have never seen.

Scott DisServais you are a moron.

    Stay stupid.

Nah apparently it's as folks (including me) has link/stated.

Basically the first walk off hr, where the team was down multiple of runs. I think the 2 outs in the 9th is just extra spice for the story telling.

Going to Ray or keeping Sewald doesn't change the problem. Yordan Alvarez is 99.9% the reason the ball went over the fence. The vast majority of the 0.1% is Sewald letting Alvarez come to the plate whether or not you want to call that imploding.

I said the same initially, but then have read multiple things with the "2 out" qualifier, so I guess I'll trust this Sarah lady.

Regardless, I've probably watched it 63 times already, and that whole comeback is pretty high on my list of "favorite Houston sports things".

Dusty also put Dubon in the game in the first place so credit for best move negated. I will double down on that by saying starting Mancini over Hensley or Meyers was a waste of a roster spot. Still in all a nice game by our fearless leader.

Obviously they do. And it was a terrible choice.

If the situation was reversed, would you want them to pull Pressley in that situation to bring in Valdez? I know I wouldn't.

I have to give Dusty credit when I can. But Dubon on Defense In the late innings, but not hitting qualifies.
