He really brought in Robbie Ray for a save opportunity

Getting excited about tomorrow. I really wish they would put the #1 AL team in primetime but have to pander to the Yankee fans..More reason why I will root for anyone over the Yankees.

Game saving AB by the rookie. He has made the right adjustments and he thrived in a big spot, those sliders low and away were his kryptonite for a long time but he worked through it.

I could hear the sound and knew it was well hit. But the fans would have reacted similarly to a game tying Double. So I had to wait for gameday to indicate it was a HOMERUN. That was the longest wait in history.

After all, he had hit some amazingly hard singles and doubles (and I think a triple).

One of the best bullpens in baseball... Lets bring in a starter that isn't used to relieving and pitched 3 days ago.

    I do appreciate it.

SHSSS! Dusty will try it with Framber... He has that same Lefty needs to face a lefty mindset as SS when all our relievers pitch well against lefties, even though they throw from the right side.

But the best move I have seen all year from Dusty is pinch hitting with Hensley for Dubon. Kudos to Dusty for that.

Though technically a HBP, he would have walked since he wasn't swinging at ball four. I hope OBP incorporates getting on base by means other than hit or walk. I guess that gives me something to do today.

He gets credit either way. Only Catcher interference and Sac Flys actually hurt the OBP.

i mean they used their best arms in the pen before they brought in ray. it is what it is. folks can talk about best pitching, best bats, best defense etc. once you get to the postseason you're literally starting over. it's always going to come down to execution and whether anyone can handle the immense pressure of not making mistakes. They ran into Yordan. ball game

I keep saying this over and over. Pretty much gave it to us on a silver platter. Wow.

Reading an M’s board this morning and there is an interesting debate. They are arguing if they should have just intentionally walked Yordan to pitch to Bregman given Alex’s much lower OPS and Alvarez’s numbers against lefties.

Has anyone ordered one of these for Yordan's "equipment" yet? He needs one,

But they pulled a guy with a 2.67 ERA and 0.77 WHIP out of the game. And technically Sewald doesn't handle LHB quite as well as RHB since they did hit .167/.245/.344 off him this year, which isn't quite as impressive as what he did to RHB. But those numbers against LHB are substantially better than Robbie Ray. Manager trying to overmanage.

They had their closer in the game, and it wasn't as if he was imploding. A well contested walk, and one well struck ball down in the count.

    Servais panicked.

A more reasonable move, especially if they left Sewald in who was allowing a .468 OPS to RHB this season. But Bregman did just tag the ball in his last 2 ABs (Not that Yordan hadn't just crushed one his last AB too).

because he just put 2 on and hit someone. that's the postseason. a guy gets flustered and hes done. folks can sit here after the fact and say he shouldn't have put ray in but they were forced into that decision

he was imploding. literally hitting a batter and throwing one for pena to get on. welcome to postseason baseball folks. you get yanked in those situations easily

I do have a bone to pick with the Seattle Times. Seattle didn't choke. They were BEATEN by a better TEAM (who also have great players).

We have vastly different interpretations of imploding

But for arguments sake, when you have a better option it's not a terrible call, they did not have a better option.
