To me I think it'll be a toss up. If he gets hurt this yr, like he did last yr, then yes I think he will be available.
But I think it's highly unlikely.

However, if we can get Trey Lance, Justin Fields, Daniels or any of the other QBs I mentioned as a stop gap, I would trade a 3rd rnd pick.

Sometimes a change of scenery can improve a player. Those aforementioned player had value at some point, so it could be worth a look.

You do if you believe in Ewers like I do and next yrs draft should fill out the team with another 5-6 star level or solid long term starters. You could probably add 6-8 difference makers, solid players from next yrs draft, FA. Put that together with last yrs draft and guys like both Collins, Greenard, Nelson, King etc.. and it will be time to get your QB. After adding Ewers Caserio will still have several 2nd, 3rd rd picks to add 2,3 quality solid starters in 2024. The future is bright.

It’s nice to dream and if this was fantasy land all of that would work. If I’m a team with the first pick and Ewers is as good as you say he is, there are no amount of picks you can throw at me. No team will do a trade if there’s a qb that is consensus number 1.

Will you have a shot at Ewers if you start filling in the rest of your team and you finish middle of the table?

With four 1sts in the next 2 years and at least 1 if not 2 top 15 picks in the 2023 , I'm pretty sure they can get one of

    1. Williams
    2. Ewers
    3. Maye

All of who I like better than anybody in this draft.

If I can't get Young, Stroud or Levis with the first pick, I can live with Hooker in Round 2.

Especially, if I'm getting a #1 WR and a Defensive Stud in Rnd 1 or two Defensive Studs in rnd 1

Hooker is good man. Guys shouldnt sleep on him. He gives you things that Stroud and Young do not. If the top 3 QBs are gone and you can get him in the 2nd it would be a good risk to take. Not sure he lasts past the 2nd, but so much can happen before the draft. He might play himself into the 1st round.

I can live with Hooker in round 3 or later given his age.

I think Hooker is a solid QB, but he is a stop gap. Would be a waste of a 2nd or 3rd given his age and upside imo.

Football players in general are usually a little older than other sports. Im not sure a 24 year old guy who could conceivably have a good 10 years of playing time in the NFL should be considered risky because of his age. Especially when you take into context his unique arc so far. I would also disagree that he should be considered a stop gap when he is in legit talks for the Heisman this year. He has skills. He is a true dual threat guy. Not that its either good or bad only that he CAN get your first downs with his feet as well as his arm. He is smart with the ball maybe a testament to his age? He does not have the arm talent of a Levis or Ewers, or the accuracy of Stroud and Young, but he has plenty of talent to build on.

Same thing applies to any guy we draft though. I still dont think the developmental totem is in place to be able to help a rookie QB succeed on this team.

Well stated. We have to be open minded to whomever we draft. Although Hooker's age is a concern, 10-12 yrs in not inconceivable.

We have to look at options outside of the Top 3. I like Hooker, Jefferson is drawing praise too but so is DJ Uiagalelei.

I think any of those 6 players can develop into a good QB but ultimately it's going to be the OTHER PLAYERS that determine how good that QB and team can be.

If we’re looking outside top 3 you need to look at McCall and Duggan.
Duggan is the fastest QB in the class
