i suggest you read the op first before coming in with some captain obvious breakdown of a wild card schedule that has nothing to do with the actual conversation. again your post was irrelevant to my post

this isn't about castillo pitching thursday. I don't care about that. It's about him not being able to pitch on full rest after thursday. that's the point being alluded to in the conversation you budded in. nobody needed you to say the obvious and tell folks hes on full rest thursday.

Information Dump. Hide the Roster moves.

If this is because they couldn't get Brown on the Roster because Manfred wouldn't approve, I'll be POd, not at Manfred, but at Click because this was so easy to anticipate and avoid. But let's see. We'll know soon.

Great timing. Brown is on the roster. The rest is bleh.

So they decided to carry 14 bats and 12 pitchers.

Because of it, Dubon, Hensley, and Meyers made roster. Will Smith and Maton off.

Wait, Manfred allowed Brown on the ALDS roster? I am shocked. No way he allows that unless it was a rubber stamp all along that we didn't need to worry about.

Like all permit approvals, they have no purpose other than the ability to deny it at some point. If it is truly a rubber stamp, then there is no need for the request or approval.

Nothing surprising about the roster (maybe Urquidy over Smith/Maton). Let's see how they use 'em.

eta: no 3rd catcher limits the PH/PR flexibility also

What grounds would he have had to deny it?

To get a rubber stamp, it still needs to be requested so that it can be approved (i.e., rubber stamped). There is no need for the rule that requires a rubber stamp. For all intents and purposes, the request is a notice.

To my knowledge, there are no grounds for the Commish ever to deny it (i.e., he can't) provided the team meets the rule.

Kind of wanted a 3rd catcher so it's an easier decision to pinch hit for Maldy.

I know Framber has earned his wings. But LMJ is a stud at home. 2015 vs the royals. 2017 shutting down the Yankees. He feeds of the crowd and competitive energy. But gets rattled. He started game 7 in LA in 2017. That was a pressure cooker. While he didn’t break he hit 4 batters or so. So I don’t consider it insulting to Valdez to push him tk game 3. I consider it a compliment that I think k he can handle the road game better than LMJ and throwing LMJ at home maximizes his contribution.

    just my opinion .

I felt like last season the Astros didn't have enough pitching at the end of the season and that would eventually end their season. This year they have more than enough pitching but not enough hitting, imo, to get it done. Hopefully they get and stay hot and we get some big time performances from some of the role players.

Maton was here all year and pitched well enough. Plus he was nails in the playoffs last year. stupid.

    meyers?
    Dubon?

Both suck. Auto outs and their defense is subpar.

hopefully this isnt the roster against the yankees

Nah, Meyers should start in CF. Dubon doesn't appear to have much usefulness in this series outside of pinch running though.

Yeah Dubon is your jack of all trades, master of none guy for the postseason. Maybe a pinch hit for a bunt and speed type of guy.

To me they actually nailed it leaving off Maton and Smith. It was obvious they have been our weakest links in relief pitching this season. Remove your weakest links and bada bing bada boom.
