15 points on 14 shots? The next Michael Jordan

12 points on 9 shots? Low efficiency chucker.

As I said, not the best or brightest

    Through 2 preseason games.

    Green : 48.26 TS%

Bad. Not going to cut it.

    KPJ : 51.28 TS%

Bad. Not going to cut it.

The only reason it hasn’t mattered is that Jabari and Tari have scored with the volume and efficiency of future MVPs along with the fact that just about every other player who has played any minutes for us is shooting at 50% or above.

My money would be on that very little of this continues as is.

It doesn't matter they are playing like 2/3rds the minutes and are looking at a ton of players....

I guess it either all matters or none of it matters.

Also your opinion that Jabari and Tari doing what they have done doesn’t matter?

I don't think much matters at all right now while they desperately try to trim 15 players who need development down to 9 or 10.......then it matters.

Plays defense and can create for others which isn’t something Green hasn’t shown that much apart from flashes.

Green will be the better player by the end of the season or next at most but that doesn’t mean that KPJ hasn’t a high upside.

Something else I don’t think people consider is they seem to have chemistry and want to succeed together why not just hope the best for both.

Let’s say Jalen doesn’t improve as much as planned for by the time his 22 would you write him off?

If Jalen is horrible in his 3rd season, yes that would be incredibly concerning and i would be really really bummed.

If Lonzo Ball can get healthy, the Chicago Bulls have a long list of viable guards with Zach LaVine, Alex Caruso, Ayo Dosunmu, Goran Dragic and even DeMar DeRozan. Coby White (No. 7) may be more of a luxury. He may be better off finding a new home with more opportunities.

The Washington Wizards have a still-intriguing prospect in Rui Hachimura (No. 9), but the 6'8" forward has averaged just 49 games per season. He could grow into a foundational piece, but it may be too soon for the Wizards to make that commitment.

P.J. Washington (No. 12) is a solid role player for the Charlotte Hornets. He could be near the Nicolas Claxton or Bobby Portis price range and may be most likely to get a deal in this section.

Kevin Porter Jr. (No. 30) was the most productive last season of the four listed, averaging 15.6 points with 6.2 assists per game in 61 starts for the Houston Rockets. He's become a viable contributor, but the Rockets are currently rebuilding. A viable comp would be Markelle Fultz's three-year, $50 million to $53 million contract in 2020. The Rockets may take their time before committing to Porter.

Put Washington down for three years, $33 million. The rest go to free agency.

    Source?

I haven’t seen anyone say that. Pretty sure everyone is pleased with KPJ’s Vernon-esque shot profile of late, as opposed to the Harden-profile we saw in spades in past couple years.

“I think he got the memo and seems to be trending in this direction, thankfully.”

It’s legit right in the post you quoted. KPJ has looked great in these preseason games. His shot selection is totally fine so far.

For you to bring up Harden makes no sense. Look at the shot totals. Porter Jr is below Hardens lowest year. Its a confusing stance. Are you expecting KPJ to shoot 24 times a game? If not why even make the comparison?

Last season he shot the ball 15.3 times and got to the line 3.6 times per 36 minutes on ~53 TS%.

Through two preseason games he has shot the ball 14.25 times and got to the line 7.5 times per 36 minutes on ~51 TS%.

Getting to the line more often and making 80% has been really good. His shooting from the field has been bad and still too frequent. But it’s only 2 preseason games so we will see.

Only reason why the Rockets haven't extended KPJ is because he isn't their drafted baby like Green / Smith and is basically the adopted via 2nd rd pick and worth the gamble in my opinion, usually teams extend their draft day (high lottery pick) babies pretty quick regardless if it's foolish or not because that was 'their' guy and ego is a powerful foe

those who are acquired like KPJ's usually have to wait it out and see what offers are out there on free market and then the team decides rather to match or let them go, unless they ball out immediately and consistently and showcase why you don't want them to hit the open market at all

I think it just happened recently with Ayton being a high draft pick but it's a very small pct that hit restricted free agency

I feel the Rockets offered him a Oladipo type deal and KPJ decided to just bet on himself to try and secure a bag$ similar to what Barrett / Brunson or similar to what others got who were probably what some would call overpay, which could backfire or work out swell, TBD
