I'm sure they'll resign and that community will move on. You won't find many defending them unlike a certain ex-football player running for Senate that has a number of issues...

It's an ugly thing but there isn't a single black person that should be surprised by anti-black sentiment.

Is there tension between Latinos and Black people in LA?
This is next level racism when they start calling out kids

    They haven’t resigned
    Just apologized

This the president of the second largest city in America and the largest city in California
    @Salvy
what party does she belong to?

LA Council President apologizing for racist comments about Councilman's Black son
Los Angeles City Council President Nury Martinez is coming under fire after audio clips of a private meeting surfaced in which she used racial epithets to describe Councilman Mike Bonin's son.

I dunno about LA, but from my experience as a Latinex Gringo, Gringo Latinexes and Latinos and Blacks don't get along. The things Latinex Gringos and Latinos say about Blacks is no bueno. And from frank conversations I've had with Black family members and friends, it works the same way the other way around. Of course not always, but it's a problem.

I have mixed feelings about this.

She was caught saying (and I would assume believing) some really nasty things.

However, nothing she said was illegal and I don't think she should be forced to resign for something that isn't criminal.

There will be an election and she can be replaced, if there is a mechanism to remove her they can pursue that as well.

I just don't think that you should be able to force someone to resign.

I have heard a lot of Hispanics say a lot of nasty things about black people. I have heard some black people make statements in private about Hispanics but mostly I have in private heard black people complain about other black people or white people in private...... not sure why Hispanics in my personal experience have had so much privately to say about black people...... is it a socio-economic thing? I really don't know.

Ill just say that in my experience women and black people tend to get it the worst. I hear a lot of mad **** talked about women and black people.

Who is forcing her to resign? She doesn’t want the heat that continuing on in her role would bring, so she made the decision to leave. There’s no gun to her head

her making decisions for groups of people she clearly deeply hates until its election time is something I can’t go for

    For all we know
The entire city council is racist
Even the gay ones with the black kid.

someone wanted them out so there was a secret recording

As far as I know she didn't resign from the counsel, only as President.... and that is absolutely her choice. The tweet said that wasn't enough, that she had to completely resign as if she would be forced to.

whoever wrote that tweet can’t force her to resign from the council…it is acknowledging that if she thinks people will be satisfied with her stepping down as president while still remaining on the council, then she is sadly mistaken

if she wants to continue receiving the tremendous amount of backlash and outrage that she rightfully deserves, she can choose to stay

google search shows born in cuba. i think that community has a 70/30 split on a racism problem. cuba gets romaticised but for some reason the racism towards afro-cubans has gotten to the point they are discriminated against openly.

There’s a lot of racism in Los Angeles
But I think this is new to some in the D&D

at least the gangs are inclusive
The crips and bloods invite all ethnicities now
