When TyTy was picked I was a bit bent. Although I thought he had potential to be a solid point, I was really high on both Jovic and PBJ. They passed on both. Still think that might end up a big mistake. They both have looked solid. Especially NJ.

That being said, I am high on TyTy as the back up to KPJ. Just listened to Lucas's interview from practice yesterday and it finally made sense why they took him. John Lucas Jr is an asst coach at UK. Had no idea. So he knows exactly the type of player and person he is. Probably wouldn't have picked him if they didn't know he had something.

We should see more of him tonight.

the best scenario is, tyty develops into a 'andre miller / malcolm brogdon' sorta pg, less athletic, good playmaking.

Sounds about right. Getting rid of C Wood AND gaining a solid back up PLUS two 2nd's works for me.

Third page during preseason. Poor performance by this guy, but I would be remiss if I didn't add a woo.

It's still preseason. A veteran playoff team like the Heat don't care above t these games. I can easily see the Rockets winning this.

That would be cool for a team like this one that needs to learn how to win without any qualifiers thrown in. I'd take it and enjoy it. I hope Miami plays their best.

Definitely. I hope Miami plays Bam and Butler decent amount of minutes. Good practice against elite defense.

This has been ongoing ever since he joined the Rockets from RGV. Nix has played a total of two good games with the big boys: Dec 27 against the Hornets - as a backup point; and Jan 1 against the Nuggets - deep into garbage time. In the other 20 games, he averaged 3 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 1 turnover on 32/20/53 splits in 12 minutes, with a miserable offensive and defensive rating.

The same story repeated itself over the last two preseason games.
Slow to setup the offense, timid in the pick-and-roll, prone to bailout sideways passes with the clock running out, passive without the ball. Even when he decides to drive to the rim, he gets easily bothered by opposing players' length due to his horrible vertical and either throws up a wild shot or attempts last second jump passes to the nearest teammate.
In those rare moments that Dai'shen is active and finds some space, he either clanks the open shot (23% shooting over these two games) or, when fouled, clanks the free throw (43% at the line).
On defense, you would think his size and length would bother opposing guards, but he is so flat-footed and his lateral speed is so terrible that he gets blown by everyone and constantly plays catchup. Also makes repeated mistakes when switching due to his disinterest and has thus allowed a free lane to the rim for the opposing ballhander multiple times.

As it stands, Nix is not an NBA player and, due to his low motor, dismal shooting and severe physical limitations, I don't think he'll ever become an effective one, unfortunately. I thought getting Abdelfattah on the coaching staff would unlock his potential somewhat, but that hasn't happened so far.

Fun fact. I read somewhere that he was a jerk to work with. There was nothing gentle about this giant.
