This is the luxury of the stros having these choices this year. I’m not giving lmj the ball in game 2 just off past reputation though when Valdez has no doubt earned his cy young season and is every bit deserving of being the stros ace. And if he’s given the ball Thursday everyone should be fine with it
No it’s been brought up several times in other threads. It’s still an advantage for the stros to be able to use JV twice on full rest, while Seattle can only use Luis once on full rest
I think there's a good chance Javier gets a start in the DS. Wouldn't mess around with him bullpen'ing early in the series.
I am REALLY looking forward to Robbie Ray starting one of these games. Vs Astros this year: 3 gs 10 2/3 ip 59 batters faced 23 hits 7 walks 4 doubles 6 homeruns .442 BA .509 OB% .865 slg 1.374 OPS 10.97 ERA
LMFAO, no Dubon in a Verlander start. The front office really does take the lineup reins when it's time to win.
I think they did that for Verlander's last start too, probably to gear up for what we would see in game 1
Someone asked the question here a couple weeks ago, which team we wanted the Astros to face in the playoffs (Mariners, Blue Jays, or Rays). The Mariners was the most popular answer, but be careful what you wish for because the Mariners starting rotation features 3 pretty good starters and sometimes that’s all you need in the playoffs. One’s a young up-and-comer, one’s an ace, and one strikes out among the league leaders on an annual basis: Luis Castillo (w/ Mariners): 4-2, 3.17ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 77 K’s in 11 games after the deadline trade Logan Gilbert: 13-6, 3.20ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 174 K’s in 32 games Robbie Ray: 12-12, 3.71ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 212 K’s in 32 games
After visiting with some mariners fans, I’m afraid for the Astros. They won’t be able to handle “chaos” and the mariners home stadium will be too loud for them to think. Season over for the Astros.
i mean its easy to say after the fact. Had seattle loss, folks would be saying the same thing and how seattle would be the one the stros want to face. And that toronto has a dangerous lineup with also good pitching. Now that Seattle won, the narrative switches so well be careful what you asked for. Doesn't really matter, the stros should be winning the series regardless. Its postseason and everyone know how random baseball can be. All you can do is execute
Astros split series in Houston, beat Ray game 3 and Verlander gets the call over Javier and pitches game 4 to close it out.
It's not shirts with people putting shoes on their head? My first thought when I saw them doing this was, "that's fu**ing gross." How many of those people did this after coming out of the restroom?
Not against the Dodgers in the 2017 World Series when Lance was a Rookie and looked scared and hitting batters. Peacock, Charlie Morton saved that Clinching Game
