How many qbs that are as small as Young even make it to college much less the NFL? Imagine how special you have to be to dominate in the SEC at that size. No way am I worried about it because the guy has obviously had no problem being the best despite being small. Great players come in all sizes at all positions in the nfl.

I think OSU coaches are just better than Alabama coaches :D Able to extract the most from their talent!

Probably true, at least on the offensive end. This just builds more of a case for Bryce Young. I’ve stated before that I’d be happy with Stroud as well though. I just prefer Young’s mobility given the importance of mobility in today’s NFL.

Bingo! How many 'star' type WRs does Alabama have in the NFL?

Not buying the "poor Bryce he has lesser talent around him" vibes. Alabama gets their pick of the litter year in year out. Dont knock CJ Stroud for having 'better' talent around him in a slanted way to prop up Bryce Young.

Every other top prospect in the debate you could make that case for, but then they dont 'look' as sexy. Professional analysts know what they see and I have yet to catch this narrative in those circles.

I think you’re too obsessed with this comparison. The only point being made is that it’s helpful to see prospects in as many different situations as possible. We’re getting to see Bryce Young with great receivers last year vs Bryce Young without this year. There’s a benefit to that. That doesn’t tear CJ down. I personally would just like to see him play against tougher opponents. Those games are coming this year, so we just have to be patient. The draft isn’t tomorrow.

Got it! Lets just not pretend that Alabama is bereft of talent. Thats all I ask.

The Texans wakeup this morning as #6 in the draft order. If they stayed there and Young, CJ and Levi's are gone would you consider a trade?

    Looking at the league as a whole, I can possibly count 3 or 4 teams that will be looking to unload their current QB for draft picks. Would you give up a 2nd rnd pick for any of these QBs;

    1) Trevor Lawrence (it's not working out in J'ville)
    2) Justin Fields (raw as hell needs a change)
    3) Trey Lance (same as above)
    4) Derek Carr (Texan fans may have a stroke)
    5) Daniel Jones (Don't think he'll be available now)

Yes they have a lot of talent overall, but it makes sense to be more nuanced than that. CJ has great receivers, but we have to recognize that his best receiver has missed most of his games this year. I think we can look at all factors.

For me personally, absolutely not. Rewarding other teams for drafting poorly is what we tried with Brock Osweiler. Caserio is drafting well so far. I trust him more in the draft than trying to clean up other teams messes.

You don't trade picks. Why? You have 2 #1s in 2024. It is better to build a team, then get your QB.

Right and Im looking at the 2021 top WR recruits nationally and Emeka Egbuka was #1 for OSU and Ja'Corey Brooks was #2 for Alabama. After that Alabama nabs the 5th and 6th highest WR recruits nationally in Agiye Hall (ends up transferring to Texas) and JoJo Earle. Then Cristian Leary at #10. OSU re-enters the picture with the 14th and 15th ranked WRs that year in Marvin Harrison Jr and Jayden Ballard.

Like you say it is more nuanced then just "Player X is good because of his supporting cast". I look at the quality of throws from these guys and who's putting the talent to maximum use and HELPING them become better versions of themselves.

You can even see the same thing play out on the offensive line with Alabama grabbing the top 2 OT players nationally in JC Lathan and Tommy Brockermeyer. While the highest OSU OL recruit was IOL Donovan Jackson.

Its a recurring theme regardless of recruiting year.

My only issue with that is as I said before about building a team before you get your QB.....The Colts!

If the Browns get DW4 next yr, the Browns pick will be in the low 20's and if the Texans have another good draft, their picking between 10 - 15 even with Mills.

Depends on the trade. But I would say no and I'm in the don't draft a QB in this draft crowd. But I guess it would depend on the trade.

The Colts tried to do shortcuts with the QB position after Luck. Draft a QB in 2024. Doesn't have to be Top 10 QB. Mahomes was 10, Watson 12. There are VERY few 10 QBs that are great now. Rodgers was 22nd pick. Josh Allen was 7th, Herbert 6th. The pick doesn't have to be top 5.

I get this, then you have to make a 49ers Lance type trade and luckily you have the draft picks to do it.

You don’t do a 49ers lance type trade unless your team is so stacked that you don’t need picks. That ain’t happening in the next 2 years.
