I think the anti tank people either forgot what it's like to pick 14th year after year and be stuck in mediocrity or they weren't alive back then.

It's accurate... you'd be replacing one combo guard for another that doesn't shoot as well and isn't as good defensively. His lack of shooting would make him a worse fit next to Jalen Green too so you could have chemistry problems you don't currently have.

“They hope not enough to have the worst record but to head to Chicago for the lottery with a decent chance at the grand prize.”

Dream scenario is Kyrie going on a rant in the locker room about how flat earthers who don't like masks are the most marginalized group of people ever leading to Durant decking him in the face like Draymond on Poole right before the season starts sitting both out and requesting trades leading to the Nets having the worst record in the league leading to the number one pick overall while the Rockets turn into the next GSWs with a group of 19 and 20 year olds winning 50+ games and adding Wembanyama to the core.

That is the BEST case scenario.

If you think he’s gonna be a bust that’s fine, I don’t know enough to make that judgement already

I never said he'd be a bust, you just have a hilariously low opinion of certain players which is fine

We have two veterans. We play to win. Most likely we won’t win much. But you can’t intentionally lose — that’s against the rules. The only legal (and competitively ethical) way to tank is to play youth. We are going to do he doing that regardless. So if you miss out on Wemby it’s because you’re CURRENT draft choices have already started producing — and that’s a good thing.

Tanking for a “chance” at the number one pick is a terrible idea. We had the worst record the last two years and still didn’t get the number one pick. Third times the charm?

It'd be incredibly dumb by the FO if near the end of the season and we're a bottom 5 team and we could easily reach bottom 3 if we just rest some guys and fail to do so because "we're not tanking" and miss out on Wemby.

I've been following Wembayama's career since I heard about him last season and this guy is definitely the best prospect since Lebron and unlike Chet, he's actually well built for his size. When all these HoF players are saying Wembayama is going to be the next face of the league, you know it's a huge deal to do whatever it takes to draft him.

I'd even go as far as trading a non 1st lotto pick plus any of our young stars minus Jabari/Green for him but I'm sure whoever gets 1st next year will draft Wemby no matter what unless he suffers a career ending injury before the draft.

And let's say we fail to get the 1st overall pick, the consolation prize in next year's draft will still be great because we'll be able to pick up a good point guard.

I actually thought I had read long ago it was against NBA bylaws to intentionally lose. But I can’t find anything to confirm that so I guess I was mistaken. Nonetheless, I find it to be unethical or unsportsmanlike.

There’s a difference in sitting guys the last 10 games and starting the season with the game plans of intending to lose.

Na, nothing happened to teams for losing intentionally, go look at some of the stuff the warriors did for klay (i know the rules for them are different, but the idea is the same)

That is horrible. GM would and should get fired right away...you don't pass on a generational player when you can draft him.

I would tank my ars off for Wemby, but not giving up J, Bari or Tari. They are off the table for me. Everyone else, plus all the picks can be had. Just not giving up the foundation. If you add Wemby to that group, you adding banners to the rafters.

Now is the year to do it. We won't have our picks potentially for next 2 years so we have to be decent atleast by then
